REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF SEPT. 5th, 1910. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. We have a good opening of the season bill, which is in some ways, ideal for the holiday crowd and with sufficient "class" to please the regular vaudeville lovers. While all the acts did very well today, I am afraid that at least one of them won't go very well with the regulars. VAN HOVEN Comedy magician, with a lot of patter built somewhat on the lines of Jim Morton and Griff, the juggler. Manages to get a lot of laughs. Would hardly call it a strong act. All right for this position. 15 Min. in One. VITTORIO & GEORGETTO Upside-down Boys. Acrobatics, hand-balancing, et cetera. A corking good novelty act, the merits of which were quickly recognized by the audience. 10 Min. F. S. CLIPPER QUARTETTE The singing in this act is very poor. The comedy got some laughs from the holiday audience, but I don't believe it will go with the regulars. The act follows the lines laid down by the Empire Comedy Four, Orpheus Comedy Four and others, though not nearly as good as those mentioned. 15 Min. in One. ROSINA CASSELLI'S DOGS This act gives as good satisfaction here as any dog act we play. To my mind, it is one of the most valuable in the business. 18 Min. F. S. MARSHALL MONTGOMERY Very find ventriloquist in the class with the best of them. Went as well today as Lester. 21 Min. in One. "THE HORSE DEALER" I call this a good low comedy act, somewhat slap-sticky, to be sure, but really funny. If properly placed in a bill, will go anywhere. 18 Min. F. S. CONLIN, STEELE & CARR These people held this spot with perfect satisfaction. 20 Min. in One. THE ROLFONIANS Unquestionably as good a musical act as we have ever played. Contains also, lots of novelty. No small feature of the act is the work of the Musical Director, who also sings well. It went exceedingly well with today's audience and I look for it to be a riot when the regulars get in. 25 Min. Open F.S., close in One. ROSE PITONOF Girl Swimmer. This young girl made good exceedingly today, due largely to her personality and that she shows a lot of swimming strokes in addition to her diving. A very interesting lecture by her manager preceded the act and paved the way for her in good style. If properly handled I would consider her a good card anywhere. 10 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O.K.
