C.E. Barns PHILADELPHIA SHOW Sept. 19, 1910. TUSCANO BROS. 9 min F.S. Carry their own drop, representing a Roman Arena. The boys make a good appearance in costumes of Roman athletes. The battle-axes are very showy and they juggle with them in a manner worthy of the Mowatts with the Indian Clubs. Each one of their variations of tricks received a good hand. The finishing feat when one of the boys throws battle-axes clean across the stage and the other catching them, got a big hand. An excellent opener. LONG ACRE FOUR. 14 min in one. This quartette is very favorably known here, Received some advance applause, and each one of their selections, including the solos and collective work, received strong hands. The selections were all new and all exceptionally good. Big finish. LESTER & LONNERGAN. 22 min F.S. A pretty Irish play with some good situations and humorous lines. Carry their own set, showing an Irish castle. Held the interest of the audience throughout. Strong closing hand. HARRY B. LESTER 21 min in one. Lester certainly did get the crowd today. Held them all through up to a smashing big finish. Gave some new and original stuff, but his imitations of stage celebrities won the biggest applause. MARTINETTIE & SYLVESTER. 9 min F.S. Well known knockabout act, using table and chairs, one man working straight, the other eccentric. The funny falls and the general comedy line got constant laughter, and the tumbling work of the straight man is commendable Wound up with a screaming finish. OSCAR LORAINE. 15 min 2-1/2 clo. in one. Advance applause. Gave several impersonations which were well received, but the hits of his act were burlesques, including that of Rigo which shows that Loraine has a keen sense of humor. Compelled to do an encore and closed big. BAYES & NORWORTH. 44 min F.S. close in one. Advance applause. Begin with their revival of old-time minstrels which went well. Proceeded to their original work which went stronger and stronger up to a great finish with several encores and a little chaffing on their matrimonial felicity. Bayes & Norworth are great favorites as is evidenced by the immense crowd and the enthausiasm this afternoon. They will undoubtedly draw big this week, as big as any card in vaudeville of the comedy class. NAMBO TROUPE 10 min F.S. This is something more than the ordinary Jap.Troupe as far as the regulation acrobatic stunts are concerned, but the closing feat of the acrobat who walkes up a flight of steps on his head, kept the people in and held them breathless. This is certainly the most phenomenal stunt of the kind ever done in this city and is surely going to be talked about by every patron as it got what it deserved--overwhelming applause. KINETOGRAPH. "Shrimp Fishing". Fairly good travel film. GENERAL REMARKS This show simply went like wild-fire from the drop of the flag up to the big finale. There is abundance of everything that the admirer of high-class variety could wish for, and if to-day's crowd and the enthausiasm is any criterion, it ought to be a smashing business week for us. CUT:- OSCAR LORAINE. In imitation of "RIGO", the toning down of "business" a little.
