B. F. Keith's Columbia, Cincinnati, H. K. Shockley, Mgr. Redford & Winchester--16 minutes, full stage, wood, own drop. Two very clever and amusing jugglers who get much laughter and applause for their comedy and expert juggling. Their finish is strong. The act went well and made a big hit. Wheeler Earl & Vera Curtis--Man and woman. 18 minutes in one. Own drop. they have some excellent songs and a great deal of amusing chat. The act is as clever of its kind that has been seen here for a long time. Went well with the audience and accorded a very hearty encore. Henry Horton & Co.--25 minutes. Open 5 minutes in one. Own drop, then to full stage, interior living room. Is a splendid rural sketch, is full of fun and holds the audience throughout with laughter and applause. Lee Lloyd--In character songs, assisted by Jay Roberts at the piano. Everything is one, olio. The act was rather draggy at first and only went moderately well. Mr. Lloyd closes with the song, "Rosy Marie" which made a hit and probably saved the act from being only moderately successful. A Night in a Monkey Music Hall--15 minutes, full stage, own set. A very amusing monkey act. The scene shows a miniature stage with an orchestra and a pit. Monkey card boys put out the numbers. Five miniature vaudeville numbers are presented by monkeys during which a monkey orchestra plays selections. No person appears on the stage with them. The act has been seen here before but makes just as big a hit as ever. Gertrude Hoffman--2nd week of "Gertrude Hoffman's Review". 58 minutes, or 6 minutes longer than her act of last week. Opening 9 minutes in one. Her own set throughout the act. What was said last week in reference to her act, from beginning to end, can only be repeated, not only of its wonderful excellence but the great enthusiasm with which each number was received by the audience. Miss Hoffman added 3 new features to her "Review". The 1st entitled "The Bell Girls", the 2nd "The Physical Culture Girls" in the trapeze sextette, "A La Carmen" and the 3rd an augmented diving scene in which Miss Hoffman gives a burlesque on Annette Kellerman's diving, This was Miss Hoffman's first appearance in the diving scene. She actually plunges into the water several times and, in the ridiculous make-up, the manner in which stage mechanics assist her movements in the air, which is invisible to the audience, makes it a more extremely laughable feature. The "Belle Girls" is also an excellent feature and accorded a great deal of enthusiasm. The trapeze sextette is performed by 6 girls in trapezes with floral decorations and assisted by 6 members of Miss Hoffman's "Royal Cingalese Troupe". Miss Hoffmann immediately follows the diving scene by appearing in her last number as Eddie Leonard is black face and this, too, is a feature of the act, as many people wonder how she can emerge from the water and make such a rapid change into a black face minstrel in such a remarkably short time. All of the features of last week's show are retained in their entirety, and with the addition of 3 new features mentioned above, make the act even stronger and more remarkable than that of last week. The reception of the act by the audience this afternoon was tremendously big. Pictures--Entitled "Good Glue". Another picture entitled "Hunting the Panther" was cut out owing to the extreme cruelty to the panther by the natives. This picture was ordered eliminated before it was publicly presented. The show as a whole was somewhat draggy and lacks the desired snap and ginger until the Gertrude Hoffmann act is reached.
