REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF NOVEMBER 7, 1910. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. The show this week is pretty good. Somehow or other this season they seem to look a lot better on paper than on the stage. Acts that are touted as tremendously strong around New York, when them get to Providence, in many cases, fall down or just get by. I am inclined to believe that that is caused by a tremendous amount of plugging done by a number of acts, knowing that managers view them in and around New York. As a matter of fact, we have only had about three first class shows this season out of ten because I have been lead astray by New York criticisms. BANKS BREAZEALE DUO This act was put in to replace the 4 De Wolfs, who closed rather than take this position on the bill. The Duo is composed of young ladies, who give a straight instrumental musical act in romantic costume with special scenery. I should say that the scenery rather overwhelms their work, which is very nice, but not great. The act is all right for this spot on the bill. 15 Min. F. S. I am going to suggest to them that they cut out the scenery and do their act in One at a moderate salary. OLLIE YOUNG & APRIL Hoop rolling, juggling, diabolo, boomerang thowing and soap bubble manipulations. A very neat little act. 15 Min. Can either open or close in One. BLOSSOM SEELEY As far as this house is concerned, Miss Seeley is an absolute lemon. She is one of those New York acts mentioned above. 10 Min. in One. HICKEY TRIPLETS A corking good acrobatic comedy act. 10 Min. Special Drop in Two. KATHLEEN CLIFFORD Miss Clifford has a nice little novelty in showing her changes in shadow pantomime, out of which she gets quite a little comedy. She has a pleasing personality some great suits of clothes, and her dancing is particularly good. She did very nicely in this spot. 16 Min. Open and Close in One. PRIMROSE FOUR Semi-comedy quartette, who gave evident satisfaction. 15 Min. in One. JAMES NEILL and EDITH CHAPMAN In "The Lady Across the Hall". A splendid comedy sketch, excellently presented. 23 Min. F.S. ROONEY & BENT In their well-known act, "At the News Stand", which, of course, made the hit of the show. 16 Min. Open in Two Close in One. JOHN B. HYMER & CO. In "Tom Walker On Mars". A great big production. A very good sketch, well played. An act that should give satisfaction anywhere. 28 Min. F.S. MOTION PICTURES O.K. Mr. Joe Kane, manager for Miss Blossom Seeley, has just left the office. I told him very forcibly what I thought of the act, which didn't seem to please him a great deal. I think if a lot of these fellows were given to understand a little oftener when they are frosts that the managers are "on" it might reduce their ego and possibly, occassionally, a salary. At least I don't believe that Mr. Kane will ask for an increase of salary within the next five minutes.
