C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. DEC. 12, 1910. THREE CHARBINOS. 11 min. F.S. Three powerful athletes make a fine appearance and do a fine round tumbling act. Act is well dressed in every particular and received generous applause throughout. The athlete's slide down the forty-foot incline while balancing on his head got a particularly strong hand at the close. KARL. 14 min. in one. This young man plays remarkably well considering that his instrument is home-made out of a cigar box and has but one string. He gets a lot of music out of it and also introduces a little comedy that is appreciated. Held number two spot O.K., and received an encore. Closed well. EIGHT GEISHA GIRLS. 14 min. F.S. Second appearance here. Advance applause on a very pretty scene. Same act as presented here before. Very dainty and interesting, and received liberal applause. Closed well. YORKE & ADAMS. 19 min. in one. First appearance in vaudeville in this town for many years. Received a good advance hand. An amusing line of Hebrew comedy. Audience laughed heartily at the hits and gave them generous applause at the finish. FIVE ARMANIS. 14 min. F.S., close in one. Carry an effective set showing an Italian scene with the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius, in the background. Make a very pretty appearance in typical Neapolitan costume, and sing the characteristic folk song of the country. Good applause after each selection. CHARLEY GRAPEWIN & CO., "The Awakening of Pipp." 24 min. F.S. Mr. Grapewin has appeared here in various theatres as a star of his own company and has a strong following. His comedy work as the "rounder" in the bedroom scene the "morning after" with his reproving wife was alternately funny and pathetic, the character humor, of course, getting big laughter from all parts of the house. The climax is particularly clever and leaves no offensive impression in the minds of the audience. Closed very strong. EVA TANGUAY. 32 min. in one. Second and last week. From today's house and the enthusiasm, it is safe to predict that Tanguay is still drawing them and will continue to do so. Sang her usual repertoire and received enthusiastic applause from the advance hand up to the finish. Her "money" song, during which she scatters pennies into the audience, made its usual sensation. People have an idea that these pennies are a sort of mascot and carry them away for souvenirs. As far as Philadelphia is concerned, Tanguay is without doubt Vaudefille's best card as she not only draws them in, but sends them away satisfied and is undoubtedly this season doing the best and most varied act she has ever done. ERGOTTI & LILLIPUTIANS. 11 min. F.S. This is a mighty pretty act and makes an excellent closer. The two Lilliputians make a cute appearance that especially appeals to the children, and their work is nothing short of extraordinary. The act moves swift and brilliantly right up to a big finish with the whirling pole supported on the man's feet. This got very strong applause. KINETOGRAPH. "The City of Bruges, Holland." Exceedingly interesting and our Daylight apparatus brought out the fine points to perfection. "Jerome Buys An Automobile." Very amusing comedy film and not too long. GENERAL REMARKS. This would be a good show for this time of the year even without Tanguay, but with her, it is certainly giving the people good measure running over. It rather looks as if they appreciated it because the house was big and the show went great.
