REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW FOR WEEK DECEMBER 12, 1910. W. W. Prosser. RICE, SULLY & SCOTT: Comedy bar act with three men doing characters,-German, Chink and Irishman. This is a good lively act with liberal allotment of rough comedy in the way of falls, and cleverly executed tricks. Act made an excellent opener and finished strong. Garden in 5, 7 minutes. VERONA & ALVIN VERDI: Young woman and boy about 14 years old who introduce a taking line of violin and violin and 'cello duos. A very pleasing little act which held the attention moderately well. The weakest point in the act is the dressing, which could be greatly improved, although they do not really look poor. Both could array themselves with much better taste and in this manner enhance the merit of the act. The musical work is O. K. and they finish moderately strong. Street in 1, 10 minutes. ROONEY & BENT: Same clever little pair as ever, doing "At the News Stand". A lot of comedy in the lines and the kind of singing and dancing this pair is noted for. The act went very well all the way through and finished O. K. Pat is greatly worried because he is on so early and I will no doubt have to pat him on the back and talk him out of it. The act is really all that could be desired. 13 minutes, special set in 2. NIBLO'S BIRDS: This act went very well and held the attention throughout without any trouble. Since last here Niblo has added a third bird to the act, the introduction of which injects considerable comedy. The work of all three seemed to hold the closest attention, the finish of the act being moderately strong. 12 minutes, olio is 1. MURPHY & NICHOLS: In "The School of Acting". This act was a genuine hit all the way through, the laughs being fast and furious.from almost the beginning to the end. Certainly a great laughing vehicle. 27 minutes, wood in 4. NELLIE NICHOLS: Songstress Comedienne. Miss Nichols went very big, her various songs scoring in a manner that stamped her as an unqualified success. Really the applause hit of the bill, gaining for herself the strongest finish of the show. 16 minutes, olio in 1. MAX BRUBER'S ANIMALS: A most excellent exhibition of animal intelligence by an elephant, a horse and a pony. The entire act is well dressed, a lot of unusual stunts are presented, and the act held the closing spot without the slightest trouble. Thoroughly O. K. Landscape in 5, 10 minutes. PHOTOPLANE (DAYLIGHT MOVING PICTURES): To-day was the first showing as a part of our vaudeville performance of this great improvement in moving pictures. Very few people left the house as compared with the number that have always done so heretofore. There is no question but that the Photoplane is a vast improvement over the old style picture. The audience was apparently interested and seemed to enjoy this number as thoroughly as any of the acts. I believe that as soon as people generally understand what these pictures are they will prove an attraction in themselves.
