C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JAN. 9, 1911. ANITA DIAZ'S MONKEYS. 12 min. in 1 1/2. Ten well trained monkeys who do a lot of very amusing stunts, to the delight of the children, principally. Miss Diaz has dressed her act in good style -- employs a long table upon which she places her paraphernalia and upon which the monkeys do their work. Miss Diaz keeps up a running fire of amusing talk all during the act. Closed very well with the monkeys riding the merry-go-round and the baboon grinding a hand-organ. NICHOLS SISTERS. 13 min. in one. Well known on the circuit and always go well. Introduce some new songs and have some clever bits of darkey humor that gets the laugh. Closed well. ALONZO BRACCO TROUPE. 9 min. F. S. Eight people, including one woman and a boy. A good tumbling act with at least two performers that are phenomenal. Both of these got big applause for some of the most amazing ground tumbling stunts ever seen here. The rest of the act is of the regulation order. They all make good showing in brilliant costumes. Closed strong. MORTON & MOORE. 18 min. in one. They began rather slowly, the fun being a little too much on the burlesque order, but the audience woke up to it when they got to their eccentric dancing which is exceptionally good. Brought the act up to a good finish with an encore. DeHAVEN SEXTETTE. 22 min. F. S. This act has improved since its last appearance here. The girls dance well, have fairly good voices and the costumes are particularly brilliant and fetching. Received good applause for each one of their numbers and closed well. MAGGIE CLINE. 25 min. in one. Big advance hand. Sang some new Irish songs, all of which went in great shape. Laughter and applause throughout, and closed with her ever popular "McCloskey" number, which, of course, went extremely big. FRANK KEENAN & CO. "The Oath." 26 min. F.S. This is one of the most powerful one-act plays that was ever produced in Vaudeville, and presented in a most masterly manner by Mr. Keenan and his support. Held the audience rapt throughout, and brought up to a big finish. This act has been heralded abroad for some time and fully justified all the strong things that have been said about it. It will certainly be a very strong card among those of our patrons who like a great play on this melodramatic order. GOLDSMITH & HOPPE. 17 min. in one. One man works straight, the other Hebrew comedy. Play instruments very well, and intersperse their numbers with a good line of talk which kept the audience in good humor. Closed well. CHAS. AHEARN TROUPE. 13 min. F.S. This great comedy scream has been perfected till it is now one of the most riotously funny closing acts in Vaudeville. Their collection of freak bicycles is a laugh just to look at, but the manner in which they handle them has the audience convulsed, while the pace race against time brings the act up to a smashing finish. Bigger and better than ever before. KINETOGRAPH. "Waterfall in Finland." A beautiful travel that brings out all the advantages of the Photoplane. GENERAL REMARKS. The show seemed to start of a little slowly, and the audience seemed apathetic this afternoon. However, after the first half, the crowd warmed up and the applause was very liberal right up to the end. Think it will be much more popular with the evening audiences, and Keenan is sure to be a drawing card as is also Maggie Cline. The show for the evening will run as follows:- Orchestra, Diaz's Monkeys, Nichols Sisters, DeHaven Sextette, Morton & Moore, Alonzo-Bracco Troupe, Maggic Cline, Frank Keenan, Goldsmith & Hoppe, Ahearn Troupe, Kinetograph. Pawtucket R. I. Music Hall 3 days Jan 9--10--11 Belle O'Keefe Singing and dancing, makes three changes, good singer good dancer done 10 minutes in one, went big Dennis Bros. Revolving Ladder, good comedy Clown make up, good novelty act out of the ordinary 7 minutes full stage went big Walter Brewer Singing and talking, 15 minutes in one, good singer, good line of talk went big David R Buffinton
