C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JAN. 16, 1911. THE LESSOS. 12 min. F.S. Make a very good opener. Man juggles balls, hats, heavy weights, tables, billiard cues, etc. Received very good applause throughout and closed well. COLUMBIA COMEDY FOUR. 16 min. in one. Each is a good soloist and they do excellent work together. The combination includes the Dude, the pugnacious German and two work straight. Good selections of songs and fair comedy. Closed well. O. K. for this spot. HOMER MILES & CO. "On A Side Street." 19 min. in two. A good sketch of city life, with the maid, lover, janitor and detective villain. Tells the story of lovers parted in the South, and brought together in the city through the scheming of the janitor who whips and outwits the villain. All right for this spot. Closed to good applause. MACK & ORTH. 22 min. in 1 1/2, close in one. A mighty good act. Keller Mack's character songs are excellent and Orth is very good at the piano. An amusing line of original songs, all of which went big. The audience did not seem to want to let them go. Closed immense after an encore number. GRECIAN DANCERS. 29 min. F.S. This is a very beautiful act with only one objection and that is its length. With two or three numbers out, it should make an ideal vaudeville feature. The girls are all pretty and dance exceedingly well, and the stage setting and costuming are all that could be desired. The music as well is of a high order, and the applause was liberal throughout the entire act, although during the last part, owing to the length, the audience seemed to tire a little even of a good thing. It is a splendid act for all that, and with all the proper condensation, will prove O. K. in this difficult spot. FELIX ADLER. 14 min. in one. Act consists largely of his former material, but he introduced some new dialect stuff and all of it went quite well. Closed fair. MATHEWSON, MEYERS & CO. 26 min. F.S. Big advance hand. Everybody realized that Mathewson and Meyers were attempting something away out of their lines when they undertook vaudeville roles. At the same time there was an absence of posing and straining for effect, which was very commendable, and the baseball hits were all of them applauded. On the whole, the way the audience enjoyed the act showed that it was appreciated and that it came up to their expectations. Miss Tully's imitations of stage celebrities got a good hand, and the burlesque melodrama at the finish also got laughter and applause bringing the act up to a strong close. LYONS & YOSCO. 18 min. In one. Advance applause. These two men are well and favorably known here and are always capable of holding a hard spot in A.1. shape They have new songs all of which were listened to with rapt attention, whether their work was with the harp and cello or vocal. Compelled to give an encore and made a big ripping finish. KITAMURA JAPS. 7 min. F.S. These people are always good for a periodical return to this house, being one of the most skilful of Japanese acts and by far the most brilliantly costumed of any oriental act we have ever played, with a drop and rug that are marvels of oriental embroidery. Good applause throughout and closed well. KINETOGRAPH. "Salmon Fishing on the Fraser River." A very interesting and instructive film and one particularly suited to the Photoplane, giving rich effects and strong details. GENERAL REMARKS. This show played off in great shape, and will go even better after the Grecian Dancing act has been cut a little. Has the virtue of presenting a lot of new faces to the audience, all of whom made good. Music Hall Pawtucket R. I. 3 days Jan 16-17-18 Whitman & Davis Comedy sketch entitled His Little Game, make several changes, 2 songs, went well Gordon & Luckie 2 men singing, dancing and talking. comedy fair 15 minutes in one. went fair Dixie Serenaders 4 colored men, two women. Open plantation scene, close in one with minstrel first part, singing, dancing and comedy all good well dressed, went big. 20 minutes David R Buffinton
