16 CRITICISM NEW YORK SHOW WEEK OCTOBER [?]TH. THE FADETTES WOMAN'S ORCHESTRA - This is a big and very satisfactory attraction. The applause this afternoon was very loud and, I think, practically unanimous. The members of this orchestra are all capable musicians and have been well trained. Several are above the average in good looks and all present a nice modest stage appearance. 35 mins., full stage, 2 shows. HRR EVA WILLIAMS & JAC TUCKER - in "Driftwood". It goes without saying that these people are always artists in anything they attempt. "Driftwood" is a sort of continuation of "Skinny's Finish" and is, I think, just as good a sketch. The offering seems to be appreciated and can be marked as satisfactory in every particular. 26 minutes, full stage, 2 shows. YNH STACK & MILTON - For a straight bar act this is about as good a one as we get. There is nothing particularly startling offered, but the work is very creditable, the act is nicely dressed, and every trick is done with neatness and finish. 7 minutes, full stage, 2 shows. YRR LES FRASETTIS - Instrumental specialties. A very pleasing act, furnishing some good music. Both man and woman makea good stage appearance. 12 minutes in one, 2 shows. GSR ELIZABETH MURRAY - Comedienne. Goes strong and her refined quiet method, together with her attractive stage appearance, leaves a very pleasing impression on the audience. 13 minutes, in one, 2 shows, - GYH. MR. & MRS. JIMMIE BARRY - in "A Skin Game". Very laughable. Good specialties introduced, especially that of Mr. Barry's imitation of Dan Daly. 22 mins., open full stage, 2 shows. GYH JULIAN ROSE - As good as ever. Has some new parodies. 18 minutes in one, 2 shows. GRR. THE ANDALUSIANS - In a singing and comedy act called "Waiting fro Pupils" The comedy is not especially noteworthy, but the singing is quite creditable. They have a long ending in one, where they sing selections from "Faust" in costume. It is satisfactory from a three-a-day standpoint. 16 minutes, open full stage, close in one, 3 shows. GMH. CORBLEY & BURKE - Irish comedians. These men are best when they dance. Their comedy is fair but their dancing saves them. It would not be a bad idea if they danced more and talked less. 15 minutes, in one, 3 shows. NH. STELLA RINEHART - A straight dancing act. This young lady was formerly of the Rinehart Sisters team and is a good dancer. The turn lacks importance as it stands and is just barely satisfactory. 7 minutes, in 1, 3 shows, HR. RASTUS & BANKS - in "The Major and the Maid". The same act they have done for some time and they went about the same as usual. The woman has a fair voice and the man does some acrobatic dancing that is just fair, but both have a pert stage manner which is undoubtedly offensive to a certain portion of the audience. This team was here just three months ago, and last week were at Proctor's 23rd. St. house, so it has no novelty to recommend it. Under the circumstances I should say this was a very unsatisfactory offering. 12 minutes, opens in 2, closes in one, 3 shows, NH. NESSEN & NESSEN - Club Manipulators. The club juggling was very good and was done very smartly with only one miss. One of the members of the team adopts an eccentric make-up and attempts some comedy which is distressing. The turn would be much improved if both worked straight. 12 minutes, full stage, 3 shows. HR. LOZELLE - Ring performer. Has quite an elaborate act and does some good work. He introduced a fake fall for his finish which is worked neatly, and is very effective. 12 minutes, full stage, 3 shows. NR. HELLMAN - magician. Does an ordinary routine of tricks, with cards, etc. Rather amateurish, but may be regarded as satisfactory for an opener. 12 minutes in 1, 3 shows. HR. REMARKS - Owing to difficulties with the stage setting for the Fadettes there was a great deal of delay in the show this afternoon that will, no doubt, be remedied later in the week.
