22 (M. J. Keating) Boston Show, Week of Oct. 13, 1902. Stereopticon, 3 shows, 15 min, in one--Usual interesting collection of views. Marionellas, 3 shows, 10 min. full stage--Clever exhibition of muscular development, the performers using triangles instead of rings. palfrey and Hilton, 3 shows, 12 min. full stage-- Straight and comedy bicycle act, and a very good one for any part of the bill. John Healey, 3 shows, 15 min. in one-- Blackface monologue and singing comedian. He did not make much impression on the blase crowd today, but that does not argue that he in any degree less of a funny man then ever. Miles Stvordale Quintette, 2 shows, 10 min. in one- One of the best instrumental acts, considered from an artistic point of view that we have had here in a long time, and will go strong in a better place in the bill that we have given it for the first show. Morris Alburtus and Jessie Millar, 3 shows, 15 min. Open full stage, close in one-- This is one of the best novelty acts that we have had for some time. The club juggling is clever, and the woman is a decidedly talented cornet soloist. They went strong at every point, and the bits of comedy were not objectionable. Elizabeth Murray, 2 shows, 13 min. in one-- Vocalist and comedienne--Very good in both, but did not seem to go so strong as the last time she was here. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Barry, 2 shows, 22 min. open full stage, close in one--This is a comedy and singing act, and made a big hit, for it received the most applause and created the greatest amount of laughter up to this point. R. J. Jose, 2 shows, 12 min. in one--Has as big a reception as at any time since he has been here, and his songs were heartily applauded, being probably the most popular he has rendered since his present engagement begun. Will Cressy and Blanche Dayne, 2 shows, 23 min. full stage--Presenting their new sketch, "Bill Biffins' Baby", which is patterned after "A Village Lawyer," in almost every particular, the dialogue along being new. Cressy is by all odds the cleverest man in his line in the varieties, both as an author and an actor, so criticism is practically out of the question. Tom Moore, 3 shows, 10 min,. in one-- Singer of "coon" ballads, but not so good as we were led to believe, consequently he got placed a little to late n the bill. It is quite possible, too, that coon singing is losing its hold here. Sam Elton, 2 shows, 12 min. full stage-- A very clever tumbler and acrobat, but not nearly so good a comedian as Baggeson, and does not work up the breaking of the crokery so well. Quigley Brothers, 2 shows, 18 mins. in one--Very good talking act, and probably the best thing in the show for that place in the bill. They created a lot of laughter, for their duologue is really funny. Mlle Capell, 2 shows, 10 min. full stage--A bigger hit than last week, although her horse did not work freely, probably on account of laying off yesterday. Biograph, 6 shows, 13 min. in one--Satisfactory list of pictures. Killeen & Murphy, 3 shows, 15 min. open full stage, close in one-- Eccentric comedy act, very good three-a-day act, put in to replace Lloyd and Walton, who cancelled because they did not get the orchestra. Comment- The show is much the best all through that we have had for some time, being especially strong in acts in one.
