REPORT OF PROVIDENCE SHOW OCTOBER 13TH.. Show as a whole is hardly up to the standard that we have been having this season, falls far short of that of last week. The individual acts are mostly good, but there are no acts that are exceptionally good, and as nearly everything on the bill, has been seen here before, it makes the show somewhat weak, from the standpoint of drawing money into the House, although when once seen, it gives satisfaction, judging from this afternoon's audience. Stereopticon. As usual. Gaston and Stone. Singing, dancing, and some awful bad comedy. It is a pretty bad act, just good enough to escape being closed. 17 min. full stage, close in one, 3 shows. Carolyn Young. Whistler. This girl whistles well, but dresses in very bad taste, and has a tough walk that detracts from her act which may be classed as fair. 7 minutes in one, 3 shows. Evans and St. John. Man and woman, in a talking, dancing, and singing act. The man was formerly of Evans and White. The act while not great is pleasing and may be classed as good especially from a three a day standpoint. 16 min. in one, 3 shows. reed and Shaw. In their usual ring act. Same as they have formerly presented on the circuit and which is good. 11 minutes, 3 shows. Al Lawrence. Monologue. With imitations and some ventrilocal work. Good act, 13 min. in one, 3 shows. Parros Brothers. In a very fine act of head balancing. Same as they had on the circuit last season. 9 min. in full stage, 2 shows. Murphy and Slater. Colored comedians who make good strong especially with some eccentric dancing at the finish. exceptionally good 3 a day act. 13 min. in one. Le Troup Fantastique. This is an act entirely new given by the Lovenberg Sisters and one other girl. It is certainly a novelty and most pleasing to the eye, and in it is introduced some very fine step dancing. They carry their own scenery, which is of the weird Black Crook type, with dragons, etc., painted upon it, and have working eyes, spit steam from their mouth, etc. Mephisto is discovered and does an acrobatic grotesque dance. At his exit, Faust and Marguerite appear, and do a very fine waltz clog to the music of the waltz from "Faust". Mephisto reappears, and they do a triple clog gavotte, at the end of which each does some solo dancing. as a finale, the three dance together, at which time the lights all over the house are out, and the costumes illuminated by miniature lights fastened upon them. The costumes are very beautiful. The act is founded upon Faust, and is called "Faust in Terpsichore", and the music is all taken from the opera "Faust". 12 Min. 2 shows, Full stage. business. 15 min. in one, 2 shows. Batty's Bears. Hardly a great act but it is somewhat interesting and ought to draw the children. 13 min. full stage, 2 shows. Biograph. O. K. Hugh Stanton and Florence Modena. In "For Reform", which they have played on the circuit before, and while it is good, it is not at all exceptional. It would be some better if it was played by capable actors, which the people [illegible] 18 min. Full stage. 2 shows.
