93 Report of show in Chicago Opera House for the week commencing Dec. 1st (Same show previously played in the Olympic and the Haymarket, Chicago, and in the Columbia, St. Louis.) Three Shows. The Barretts ........ garden in 2 -- 15 minutes -- two men club swingers -- a neat act of its kind with a dash of comedy The Tanakas ......... interior in 4 -- 16 minutes -- Japanese jugglers and illusionists -- a fine act for three a day George Yeoman ...... in 1 -- 20 minutes -- German comedian -- this fellow's success varies -- sometimes he seems to go well then again the audience receives him coldly -- his monologue is merely common-place The Five St Leons ... garden in 3 -- 10 minutes -- acrobats and gymnasts -- sometimes called the St. Leon Family -- man and woman, ten year old boy, and two girls -- these people don't do any wonderful feats but everything they do is done gracefully -- they have quite an assortment of costumes and always make a neat appearance -- children too young to work East. American Trumpeters. exterior in 4 -- 19 minutes -- a man, two women and a girl -- These people call themselves military musicians -- they give a fairly good performance on a variety of instruments playing martial airs exclusively. Two Shows Windom and Fortune .. street in 1 -- 15 minutes -- this is the Wm. H. Windom who formerly headed a quintette -- he has a comedy singing specialty entitled "The Nurse and the Postman." Not much action to it but the act is received very well. Singing good. Thos. Nast, Jr. in 1 -- 12 minutes -- does a unique ambidextrous act, drawing cartoons with left and right hand simultaneously -- always manages to get good press notices through former newspaper friends of his father, the cartoonist. O'Brien and Buckley . fancy parlor in 3 -- 20 minutes -- a rattling good comedy musical act -- always goes big -- Hallen and Fuller ... parlor in 4, close with an encore in 1 -- these two are presenting a farce comedy by George Cohan entitled "Election Bets." It is full of improbabilities but the two players assisted by Edward Simmons manage to get a lot of fun out it and vastly amuse the audience. Josephine Sabel ..... in 1 -- 12 minutes -- same old Sabel -- Perhaps her methods have improved but her popularity has waned Parker's Dogs ....... exterior in 4 -- 12 minutes -- quick trained dogs -- the leaping grey hounds make a fine finish Jose Dandy .......... in 1 - 14 minutes -- a typical Hebrew parodist -- the audience doesn't like him at first but usually reverses its decision and gives him several recalls Al & Mamie Anderson .. parlor in 4 -- two acrobats and tumblers who use eighteen supernumaries in their act -- after a series of interesting feats one of them double somersaults over the heads of the eighteen men standing in line and finishes with a remarkable series of single somersaults.
