NEW YORK SHOW: WEEK DECEMBER 22ND: STEREOPTICON:- Usual collection of views. 12 minutes in one. GRR-3, MR. & MRS. DARROW:- smoke and sand pictures and shadowgraph. 13 mins. full stage, close in one. AR-3, TOMMY BAKER:- Songs and monologue. Here in New York this man goes very strong indeed. His personality is a little against him but he certainly does tell some good original stories and has a very good singing voice. This afternoon went quite strong. 16 minutes in one. YRR-2, SEANO:- An impersonation on the order of Henry Lee, but of course, without Lee's finish. He is very good though from a 3-show standpoint. GNH-2, PANTHER TRIO:- Two girls and one man in a contortion set; one of the girls and the man doing the best contortions that I ever saw in my life. They are assisted by a woman who plays the piano and who is somewhat superfluous, although she is not on but for a few minutes and helps to fill up the stage. An exceptionally clever act. 15 minutes, full stage. YRR-2, MATTHEWS & HARRIS:- In "Adam the second". Same act that they have been doing for the last two or three years but it semed to go about as well as ever. 24 minutes; full stage. NH-2, RAYMOND TEAL:- Blackface comedian and vocalist. Sang a lot of new songs and introduced a line of comedy somewhat after the style of willis Sweatnam. Good reliable three-show a day act. 16 Mins. in one. YYH-2, McWATERS, TYSON CO:- Consisting of one man and three girls in an act called "Scenes in a Dressing Room", and concluding with one of Hermann's illusions. The act seemed to please all right, although I cannot see it for any big money. It is a lively working sketch, but the people themselves are awfully affected, and I can only class it as a good act. 24 minutes, open full stage; close in one. YYH-2, SMITH & FULLER:- Smith's wife is not with him any more and he has a woman by the name of Jennie[?]. George, who is exceptional good harp player. With that exception I don't see that the act is any stronger than it was before, although for some cause or other it went very strong this afternoon. 24 minutes; open full stage, close in one. YRR-2, GUYER & DALY:- It is of course, almost superfluous to say that this act was a scream. 10 minutes; full stage. GRR-2, LONY HASKELL:- I expected this fellow to die an awful death following Guyer & Daly, especially as for various reasons, the show was about half an hour late. To my great surprise he walked on and next to Guyer & Daly made the hit of the bill. 15 minutes in one. NR-2, GILLETT'S DOGS:- Same act as they have been doing over the circuit and a very strong one. 1[?] minutes; full stage. ER-3, BIOGRAPH:- Fair collection of views. 12 minutes in one. Added to the bill to-night will be Clifford & Hall, in a comedy sketch, and the Two Pucks, a couple of young people, boy and girl, in a neat singing and character change specialty. I know both of these acts and they are both all right. Clifford & Hall get NH and the Two Pucks KR, both three shows a day.
