THE ORPHEUM. WEEK COMMENCING JANUARY 5, 1903 No. 1 DEONZO BROTHERS 10 min. Full stage. Trick barrel jumpers. A very good opening act, could go lower. They can do encore if one if necessary. No. 2 GEO. B. ALEXANDER 16 min. Opens in 1, then to his own drop in 2. Sings songsand tells gags made up as a tramp. Has good voice and fairly good material; then to his church scene, where he does recitation leading up to "New Born King". His wife scene in church in white robes singing. Act does well and is something of a novelty. No. 3 COLOMBING 16 min. Full stage close in 1. One man drama and imitation of celebrated band leaders. Seems to have gone back since I played him before. No. 4 ELFIE FAY & SHOW GIRLS & CHAPPIES 16 min. Full stage. Show girls and Chappies from Mrs. Osborn's Playhouse headed by Elfie Fay. Six very pretty lively girls and six men. Make one change of costume. Could be made a very good act but lack proper rehearsing, and girls and men have not enough to do. Elfie Fay makes a big hit with her "mugging", etc. in singing "The Belle of Ave. A", and this saves the act. The men are no use in the act. No. 5 J. H. CULLEN 13 min One Sings some good songs and makes a hit. His appearance is not very good, but his voice and style of singing are good. Cut Cut all his talk after Monday matinee, as much of it belongs to Joe Flynn. No. 6 INTERMISSION No. 7 SALAMBOS 26 min. Full stage, close in 1. Electric and fire novelty act. Pleases this audience, but the dressing in Mephisto suits makes the act look cheap, and some of the little comedy tricks they introduce give it a museum look. No. 8 HICKEY & NELSON 10 min. Full stage. Hickey has a new partner, a better looking woman than the other, but she is amateruish. Still act goes well as ever. No. 9 MAMIE REMINGTON & PICKS 16 min. One This act went surprisingly well and was perhaps the hit of the show. The four "picks" seemed to catch the audience just right. A very good act for the money. No. 10 THE LUKENS 2 min. Full stage. As usual, only three appeared, the other being injured again last week. Act in present shape only fair, and not worth three fourths of the salary of the four act.
