NEW YORK SHOW: WEEK JANUARY 26th,1903: ......... STEREOPTICON:- Usual collection of views: 6 minutes in one. KR- TRASK & GLADDEN:- Two men in a very neatly dressed singing and dancing act. They are both good clean looking fellows and don't attempt any comedy at all, and do a very good act. 9 minutes in one. KR- BIOGRAPH:- The selection of views this week is rather unsatisfactory on account of very large number of old views, and an effort is being made to correct this for the balance of the week. 14 minutes in one. NR- RENZETTA & BeLAIR:- An acrobatic comedy act by two men, one made up straight and the other grotesque. They steal a bit from almost everybody's business and while what they do they do very well, it can only be classed as a fair act. 11 minutes; full stage. GHR- LYNCH & JEWELL:- A man and a woman in a singing and dancing act. The act opens in one with some burlesque illustrated songs by the man. The pictures and lines are quite funny, and audiences seemed to appreciate them from the start. He has a good idea in this feature , as it is somewhat of a novelty, and if worked out a little better it would make quite a hit. After the act in one they go to full stage, and the woman sings a song very well, and the man does some very clever step-dancing at the finish. A good act. 17 Mins. open in one;close full stg. HR- W. D. HALL:- This is a new blackface comedian, and I think that sooner or later he is going to make a good monologue artist. His methods are good and he tells several new stories, and several old ones, which he has put together in a little different form, and sings two or three original songs. He is a new man comparatively, but I think a coming one. 21 minutes in one. YRR-KLINE,OTT BROS. & NICKERSON:- Four men in a straight musical act,and I think about the best act of the kind in the business. They dress very neatly and are all good musicians. They open with saxophone quartette and one plays a cornet solo, and they play the steel chimes after the style of the bamboo bells, and close with brass quartette which is very atrong. It is an exceptionally good act. 20 mins.open full stage;close with about 5 minutes in one. YNH- RAPOLI:- Juggler: There is no question but what this fellow is clever in what he does, but there is where the trouble lies. H[e] does not do enough for the money he is getting. Some of his work is ac[c]omplished with a degree of skill that I have never seen equalled, amongst the best of them, but he is not especially graceful himself, and is rather inclied to be too stout for tights. He got as much applause as any juggler we have ever played and at about $75. or a $100. less money he would be all right on any bill. 22 Mins. can close in one if necessary. NH- ANNA CALDWELL:- In a turn of songs and half a dozen different stories. She went very nicely here in a pretty important place on the bill, but I suppose that can attributed to the fact that our New York audience is more receptive always than those in the other house on the circuit. Everything she did went good and from the standpoint of this house it is a good act. 10 Minuts in one. YNH- CLAY CLEMENT & CO:- The act consists of Mr. and Mrs. Clement in a sketch called "The Baron's Love Story", and, I think, the best and most artistic thing so far as Clement himself is concerned, that has ever been seen in this house. The man is an artist in every sense of the word, and his impersonation of the Baron with his delicious German dialect,is something well worth listening to. Mrs. Clement is very good but she is hardly pretty enough for the part. She reads her lines very well indeed, but a daintier woman would impress the audience more strongly. The other character is fairly well done, but Clement himself so dominates the act that everybody and everything else is merely secondary.32 Mins.full stg. get as many laughs as it should have. There is a dark change to a Roman exterior, and this is where Keough impersonates Pollydor the Miser, being an excerpt from"Ingmar". He does the part of the miser very well indeed and really show considerable dramatic ability . After that scene they change back to the Parlor and the woman sings a song while he changes to evening dress, and they finish in one with a very strong song and dance. This is really a very strong act and possesses as well the element of novelty. 26 minutes; open full stage;close with about 5 minutes in one. YHR- ERRETTO TROUPE:- Three men and one woman in an acrobatic act,and a very strong one. One of the men is a fair comedian for a German, and they are all excellent acrobats. They close with a novel feature which they call "The Human Bridge", which is good for a strong hand in any place on the bill. 15 minutes; full stage. AR- W. JI. TOMPKINS: A monologue comedian who imitates several different performers at a vaudeville entertainment, and closes with a very good impersonation of an Italian. Fair act. 15 minutes in one. GRR- MR. & MRS. LITCHFIELD:-In a rural sketch entitled "Down at Brook Farm". Mr Litchfield impersonates an old farmer very well indeed, and he is a typical hay-seed both in make-up and speech. His kid impersonation to me, is not quite as convincing, although it seems to go good with the audience. Mrs. Litchfield acts as a feeder and does a little violin solo acceptable. 18 minutes; full stage. SR- BILLEE TAYLOR:- Small singing act added this morning to fill the place of a cancellation. He has a very good voice indeed and I think will have no difficulty in making good for his money. 10 mins.in one. S. K. HODGSON
