NEW YORK SHOW: WEEK FEBRUARY 2nd: . . . . . . . . STEREOPTICON:- Usual collection of views: 7 minutes in one. SR - El SALTO: A young girl in a rather pretty and graceful contortion act. There is nothing particularly startling about it, but it is one of those acts that always make good. 10 minutes; full stage. NH - GEO. W. STEWART:- in imitations consisting principally of different steamboat whistles. He is a very fair performer indeed and would be much better if he was not so affected. It is a good reliable act early in the bill. 12 minutes in one. GYH - HORSE SHOE TRIO:- Two men and one woman in a sketch "His color Saved Him", in which they do an act something after the order of Baker & Conn introducing a deaf man with whom the comedian has considerable fun. It is a good act from a three-show-a-day standpoint. 21 Mins. F.S., BIOGRAPH:-KR- The usual collection of views. Went well. 12 Mins. in one. GNH - COLBY & WAY:- In a ventriloqual doll dance. This is an act that we played several years ago before that went to Europe, and so far as I can see it is long since they have been in this country that it appeared like a new act and is all right. 19 minutes; full stage. YRR - WATERBURY BROS. & TENSY:- (On their way from Detroit) did not get here for the afternoon performance. Will be here all right for the night show. YHR - STEPHEN GRATTAN & MAUD WHITE:- In "Locked out at 3 A.M.". Same act that they have done here beofre and it went very nicely, the climax getting a big laugh. 15 minutes; full stage. HR - E. S. RICE:- Monologue. This young man has been for several years, Treasurer of the Manhattan Theatre, and short time ago took to doing club work. He is really very good indeed, and as a dialectician he is superb, his German dialect being almost absolutely correct, and he told some funny stories, some of them having been heard before and some of them are new. It is a good act. 15 minutes in one. MHR - PAPINTA:- Same line of dance that she did last week. Very good. 15 minutes; full stage. GHR - O. K. SATO:- comedy juggler. Works in one of those grotesque makeups, and with a lot of sheer foolishness manages to keep people laughing all the time he is on the stage. 15 minutes, in one. YNH - GRAPEKWIN & CHANCE: In their act "The Awakening of Pipp". It went very strong this afternoon indeed; in fact, it seemed to me that it was received about as well as ever in this house, every situation getting laughs and generous applause at the finish. 28 minutes; full stage. GYH - AVERY & HART:- Colored comedians after the style of Williams & Walker. They are doing a turn of talking, singing and dancing, and have a very good act. Hart is very much like Williams & Walker, both in appearance and in action, and Avery makes a very good foil. It is a very good act. 16 minutes, in one. YRR - THE 4 RIANOS: Three men and one woman in a grotesque acrobatic comedy specialty. The principal Riano was formerly of the team of Johnson, Riano & Bentley, and the act is built along the same line as the old turn. It is a very rough kind of an act; there is more or less of novelty to it in a way, as two of the men impersonate monkeys and do it in an inoffensive manner. It is not a great act at all but makes a lively finish to the show. 15 minutes; full stage. SR - NELLIE V. PARKER:-Character songs. She goes fairly well and undoubtedly will do better in a better place on teh bill. 14 Mins. in one. GRR- BARRY & MALVERS:- In a comedy sketch introducing some eccentric dancing. same act that they have been doing on the circuit for sometime, and is always a good reliable act. 19 minutes; full stage. GRR- MITCHELL & LOVE:- Two men in a regulation sidewalk conversation act, one of them made up straight and the other as a Dutchman. They are not especially strong in this place on the bill, but will be all right in the early part of a show. They are not bad at all, but there has been so much talking ahead of them that people are somwhat tired when they are reached. I think they will go better tonight as they get on early. 17 minutes in one. GYH - SISTER DeVAN:- This is in reality a man and a woman. The man makes up as a girl and they do the old perch and ladder act, the man balancing the ladder in a belt around his waist and the woman doing the work on the top. It is a nice little picture act. 12 minutes; open full stage, close in one.
