NEW YORK SHOW:WEEK FEBY.16th: ------------ STEREOPTICON;- Usual collection of views. 6 minutes in one. HR-LAWRENCE CRANE:- Known as the Irish Magician: This fellow is quite a clever worker, and in some way or other manages to catch the audience every time. Personally, I don't like his mannerisms at all, but as long as the audience like him that is all that is necessary, and he certainly always goes very strong in this house. 18 minutes in one. AR- THE 2 FENNELLS:- Young man and a woman in a fair little singing and acrobatic act. The woman is really quite a good little acrobat and the man is a fair sort of a dancer. They make two or three different changes of costume, and on the whole, it is a very acceptable turn for the early part of bill. 11 Mins. can do whole act in one if necessary, but it is better to give them a C.D.in the early part of act and let them close in one. NH- CORBLEY & BURKE:- Two men, Irish comedians in a talking act. Both of them make up in a comedy fashion, and they really get lots of laughs. It is a very good act. 14 minutes in one. ER-ALBERTUS & MILLAR:- A man and a woman in a club juggling act which also introduces cornet solos by the woman. The comedy of this act does not amount to much. The man is a very good club juggler and the woman is, I think, the best female cornet player in the business. She plays with less effort than any woman I have ever heard and makes a splendid impression. 15 Mins. open full stage, close in one. ER-BIOGRAPH:- Quite a good collection of views this week, one of them especially, that of the child feeding a dog, making a big hit. 15 mins. in 1. YHR-EUGENE O'ROURKE & CO: consisting of Mr. O'Rourke, Miss Nellie Elting and a colored assistant in a comedy sketch entitled "Parlor A". While rather quiet it is a strong comedy act. The only trouble with it is that it peters out jsut a little but at the finish, however, it is a very entertaining sketch and was splendidly received this afternoon. 25 minutes; full stage. ER-SALLIE STEMBLER:- Miss Stembler does singing turn in one. She has a very good voice indeed, appearing first in a soldier song, then singing a ballad straight and afterwards giving an imitation of a Bowery concert hall girl singing the same ballad, and closes with a coon song. She has a pleasing stage appearace and went very nicely this afternoon. 11 minutes in one. YHR-LEWIS & RYAN:- Two men in a black and white face comedy act, which is well known to every one. I think it went stronger this afternoon than ever before in the house. 21 Mins.open full stage and closes with about 10 minutes in one. YHR-THE McCARTE SISTERS:-In a novelty wire act. They appear first with three mandolins and do a little musical specialty. They afterwards do about the same that they always did on the wire, and close with two of the girls holding a wire in their teeth and the third standing on the wire doing the drapery movements of the serpentine dance. This is a very pretty act. 15 minutes; full stage. GYH-MARK SULLIVAN:- In his usual specialty in which he imitates prominent actors and closes with his impersonation of a tough song and dance man giving a trial performance. Very good. 15 minutes in one. MHR-WATSON, HUTCHINGS & CO:- In a comedy sketch called "The Vaudeville Exchange. This is one of those farcical bits in which there is abslutely no sense at all and which is composed entirely of horse play, but which the audience seem to like. They went very strong this afternoon. 23 minutes, full stage. clever one. 10 minutes; full stage. ER-HERBERT & WILLINS:- Two men in a blackface comedy singing and dancing act. I think if they had had a proper place on the bill they would have gone big for they are really excellent dancers, adn I think, pretty good comedians. They will be placed much better at night, and I think they will go stronger. 15 minutes, in one. ? CHAS. R. LAWLOR & DAUGHTERS: In a singing act. This act introduces Mr. Lawlor and his two daughters. The girls are very young, I should think about 14 or 15 years of age, and have not got the idea of making up to any great extent, but they sing quite prettily and have considerable of that "give-us-your-kind-applause" material, which is always bound to go. After booking them I heard that they were not very good, and so held back the contract until I could see them. Much to my surprise, in one of the hardest places on the bill, they went very nicely and got lots of applause. I prefer to use them again before I decide on the salary. 18 minutes, open full stage, close in one, AR- THOR: This is a young man with a little musical act, not particularly strong, yet he fills the time that he is on the stage very acceptably. Plays two or three different instruments, and can be classed as a fair act. 11 minutes, in one. ER-IMHOFF & CONN: Two men in a comedy act. It is about the same thing that was done here by Baker & Conn, and introduces the deaf doctor to whom the Irish comedian appears for relief for lung trouble, the fun being made on account of the doctor's deafness. Imhoff is not nearly as good as Baker, and the strong singing turn of Baker in one is absent, still the act went very well indeed, and can be rated as a good act in an early place on the bill. 18 minutes; full stage.
