REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF MARCH 9, 1903 Stereopticon As usual Ostralo Contortion and muscular work on rings, trapeze and pedestal. Good little act to open show with. 9 Min. Full stage. Klein & Clifton Singing, dancing and comedy. This man and woman have some ability, but their methods are so coarse that they never amount to much in this house. Because they work in one and have a little ginger they are always acceptable in an early part of the bill. 12 Min. in one. Lauder & Stanley In a comedy sketch, "Detained on Business". It was impossible to get a line on this act, as Miss Stanley is evidently suffering from a severe cold. They seemed to please the audience, however, altho I did not see much occasion for laughter. The set may be classed as fairly good. 15 Min. in three. Biograph O.K. Cooke & Clinton Lady"Shootists". They go very well indeed, and the set should be classed as good. 14 Min. Full stage. Sam Drane Songs and stories. This man's act is only ordinary in make-up, but he has a pleasing personality and wins the audience on that. The act is good from the standpoint of an unimportant place in the bill. 12 Min in 1. Willis P. Sweatnam and Barry Maxwell In a blackface sketch, "The Rivals". A very finished and funny performance. Unqualifiedly made good. 23 Min. in 3. Athos Family Acrobats. GREAT. The somersaulting of the little boy (who looks to be about 18 altho he is 16) landing on the head of the man catching him is simply wonderful, and the audiences went wild over them. 8 Min. F.S.
