237 REPORT ON SHOW, KEITH'S THEATRE, PROVIDENCE, R. I. [RHODE ISLAND]WEEK OF APRIL 6, 1903 (CHARLES LOVENBERG) The show as a whole is better than I expected the gives universal satisfaction. Stereoptican. Not required. Marion & Dean. This act was the only disappointment on the bill, and to my mind can only be classed as fair. They do some most ordinary dancing, some alledged [alleged] jokes, and sing a sort of topical song. It is only good to open the show. 12 min. in two. Estelle Wordette & Co. These people have got a very attractive little farce and play it very decently. The theme is not new but is put in new form and there are a good many bright lines. A good act if not depended upon for an important place on the bill. 14 min. in three. Cooke & Don. A talking act bilt on new lines as described by Mr. Hodgerton, in his report of a short time ago. May be classed as good if gotten on before two o'clock or eight. 18 minutes in one. The Laurells. This is an act of the old style serpentine dance to some extent put in new form. The girl makes her entrance upon a Silver Crescent floating through the air and lands upon a large globe which I suppose represents the earth and is situated in the center of the stage: upon this she waves the old serpentine skirts with colored lights and pictures. Fairly good act. 10 minutes full stage. Reidy & Currier. These people do a very nice turn indeed, introducing some duet singing which is neatly put on and well dressed. 15 minutes in one. Conn & Conrad. These people have the old pole act on the trapeze with the new opening in which they come in as comedy Burglars, the style of Hall & Staly. The first part of the act amounts to very little but on the pole, they introduce some very good comedy. 12 minutes open in three close with 5 minutes in one. Mrs. Wynne Winslow. Soprano vocalist. After having had Mrs. Shepard and Mlle. Mantelli and other great singers this lady didn't appeal very strongly to me, but she went first rate with the audience. She is a very good vocalist and makes a handsome appearance. 10 min. in one. She carries her own new drop. Ed Favor & Edith Sinclair. This act is very good in sports, but in other spots it drags frightfully. On the whole it makes good but to my mind is not worth more than G. H. R. It has been improved since it was on the Circuit before but is not a great act by any means. 25 min. full stage. Mlle. Latina. Contortionist. The same act she has previously done and which goes very strongly with our audience, principally upon account of her dainty and neat appearance. I placed the act this week, at Mr. Albee's suggestion, in one, and turned the platform out under the curtain. It went very well indeed. 10 min. The Fadettes. Comment upon this act is unnecessary, suffice to say, it was a great hit. 35 min. The Three Mitchells. Man, woman and little girl in singing and dancing act the opening of which is like most of the acts of that kind and rather tame but they pull up very strong at the finish, with some eccentric dancing. They make a big hit in a very difficult place on the bill, and at least we must class the act as good. 20 min. in one. Edward Reynard. Ventriloquist. This act has been improved materially by the addition of some new set houses and figures and he has his dummies moving in the form of animals and people and from all parts of the stage., The audience being continually surprised by some new dummy popping forth. This is unquestionably the strongest act of its kind in the business. 18 minutes in one, open full stage and closed in one. Hacker & Lester. In the same bicycle set they have always done and which is good. 10 minutes full stage. Biograph. O. K.
