TEMPLE THEATER, DETROIT, MICH. [MICHIGAN] Week Beginning April 27th PONGO & LEO: Acrobats and comedy aerial artists. A good act. 13 minutes full stage. HILL & WHITAKER: Man and woman in singing and banjo specialty. Better than the average musical act. Are pleasing in this house. 13 minutes in I. LAVENDER & THOMSON: Man and woman presenting the sketch entitled "A Touchdown." It is an excellent comedy vehicle and it is well interpreted. 21 minutes full stage. TURNER'S PICKANINNIES: Composed of a woman who sings coon songs very well and two small "picks." A good turn. 9 minutes in 2 and 3 minutes in one. GEORGE H. WOOD: Black face monologist. As a laugh-maker he is head and shoulders over all competitors. He turned them around in their seats at both performances yesterday. 20 minutes in I. EUGEN SANDOW: Better than ever. A box office winner in every sense of the word. His inovation [innovation] of giving talks on physical culture at the afternoon performances is a hit with the women folk. In the afternoon his act runs 25 minutes; in the evening 20 minutes. THE THREE HACARTE SISTERS: Instrumentalists, dancers and wire xxx artists. One of the prettiest and best acts in vaudeville. It is too bad that there are not more turns like this one. It is novel, artistic and refined. A big hit in this theater. 18 minutes full stage. THE AMERICAN BIOGRAPH. The pictures presented are good.
