[ILLEGIBLE ? CRITICISM OF SHOW?] KEITH'S THEATER, PHILA.,PA. MAY 11TH [Loic?] Bridge-[?] mins. in one-Local act, booked by Mr. Jordan--price [NR?]. She is a girl about [18?] years of age and sings two coon songs and does some wooden show dancing. As a girl she is a very good wooden shoe dancer. Has played the old Eighth street house. Good "small" act. Fields & Whalen-15 mins.-Landscape in4-Fence & [set?] [Cottage?] [R?].--Man amd woman, in a singing and talking sketch. It is positively not "refined" and the "sketch" part of the act is not visible. Can only be classed as fair. Dorothy Walters-[18?] mins. in one-Singing and whistling solos. She is rather stout, but she dresses neatly and is a very good filler in for the early bill. [Antrin?] & Peters- [15?] mins.- Kitchen in [2?]-man and woman. Man is a mimic. He does various imitations, that of the saxophone being the best. Woman is useless and can simply be classed as excess baggage. Chinquilla & [Newell?]-[17?] mins-[Wood?] in 3-Indian maid and a man. The girl sings Indian and english songs;the man is somewhat of a juggler. They close the act with some Indian music on banjos. Good "small" act. Burke's Dogs-15 mins.-Gar. in 3;close in one-He has a few dogs that do some very good tricks. It is not a "big" dog act by any means. Burke is cruel to the dogs and he looks and acts it. A good act for its size. Walter Daniels-15 mins.-C:D:F: in 2;close in one-Act booked by Mr. Jordan. No relation of mine. Price,HR. A professional--a member of the Girard stock Company--He bills himself as a high class character impersonator. He [makes-up?] in view of the audience and impersonates different characters he has [illegible] [work?], the four being: Sevengali,Dr. Jeckly, Mr. Hyde, the old violinist in "[Mistress?] [Hall?], and Old Pete in the action scene of "The [Dotarians?]" He has a very good act of the kind and was well received with liberal applause. Bellman & Moore-25 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-Without question of doubt the hit of the show. A man and a woman,in a sketch, entitled "[Hester's?] Promise." Sketch introduces some very clever singing and dancing. The act saved the show. [Pleroders?] Sextette-[14?] mins.-Open [St.?] in one-Close with Gar. in 2-The girls had change of costume to-day, which was an improvement over last week. The act was not the applause hit of the show by any means. It is good as a drawing card;but we are inclined to believe that the audiences are somewhat disappointed in the singing,in which there is neither volume or quality. Vitagraph-20 mins.-Sheet in one-A fair selection of views. We miss "The Trip to the Moon." Ryan & Richfield-20 mins.-Fancy in 3-[Door?] R. & L.-Man and woman, in a sketch, entitled "May Hagerty's Father;"second time in this house. The sketch is full of [quiet?] Irish humor and is a very good act. John Ford-10 mins. in one-Wooden shoe dancer;second time here. He has both appearance and ability and more than made good. He can play here frequently. Cole & Johnson-25 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-They were greeted with some applause, having been remembered from their last trip. The act went well throughout, but not as strongly as it would in Boston;for the people here care little for the opening classical music and would rather hear them in straight coon songs. John Kernell-15 mins. in one-Second trip. He was pretty late at 5 o'clock and we have shifted the show to make him come earlier. Kernell is a great favorite in Philadelphia, has always a good [illegible?] and probably always will. Three Livingstons-10 mins.-Pal. in 4-Two men and a woman, doing acrobatic work, in full evening dress. They have many new tricks and the act can be classed as an exceptionally good one. The show is not as strong as last week's,and it was not expected that it would be. The "small" part of the show is weak in spots; and were it not for Bellman & Moore,it could not be said that there was any one act that received any great amount of applause. H. A. DANIELS.
