Lillian Burkhart and company, 30 min. full stage--Presenting for the first time here her latest sketch, "A Strenuous Daisy". There has not been an act of this kind in this house for years that went bigger than did this little play, the audience applauding while Miss Burkhart sttod [stood] waiting to make her speech at the close, for fully two minutes. I do not think her support was so bad as has been said by the managers of other houses, and, as a matter of fact, it is on par, if not better, than that offered by a dozen others who receive more money. The audience seemed satisfied in every way, and I don't see any sense in managers setting up a "holler" when those who pay money have no "kick" coming. If fault is to be found with any of Miss Burkhart's support, it is with the young man who plainly overdoes the part of a newly married collegian, as he makes him a "cad" instead of the shamefaced coward the author intended. In the name part, Miss Burkhart gives us the best acting she has ever done since entering vaudeville. Jordan and Welch, 15 min. in 1--Hebrew comedians and parody singers, who made good in a hard place in the bill. A good deal of their stuff was new and original, especially the parodies, which were particularly well received. LeRoy and LeVanion, 12 min. full stage--Comedy horizontal bar performers, in a capital act that can be placed anywhere in the programme. Went big, the audience applauding and laughing all through the turn. Harry Brown, 12 min. in 1--One of the best "real coon" singers in the varieties in many respects a better entertainer than Ernest Hogan. He had several new songs, and went strong in a difficult place in the programme. Craig and Ardelle, 22 min. open full stage, close in 1--Musical comedy act by two men, one working straight and the other in eccentric makeup. The comedy man is very good, but his partner is a poor "feeder". The act went well, but should not be out of the 3-per day class. Vitagraph, 20 min. in 1--Excellent lot of subjects, including "Impossible Bathing", which is a good comedy picture, and "Mr. Bluebeard", a big attraction for the juveniles. Comment:-The show, as a whole, is fully 100% ahead of that of last week in every department, being better balanced, and having more of the right sort of comedy. The audience was uu
