NEW YORK SHOW, WEEK OF JUNE 1st. ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; STEREOPTICON.--Usual collection of views. 7 minutes in one. AR.--ED ESTUS.-- Equilibrist. This fellow is a pretty clever sort of performer, and is an exceptionally good turn in a small place on the bill. He is introducing his work in a novel sort of way just at present, making use of furniture, etc., in building up his pyramids. 10 minutes, full stage. MH.-- CAROLYN B. YOUNG.-- Whistling soloist. This girl is a clean looking young woman, and does a very good act of whistling. Her modest appearance helps her along, and she added to the impression which her good work made this afternoon by whistling "Hiawatha," the popularity of which will carry almost any act that uses it today. 8 minutes in one. GYM.--BEESON, FERGUSON & BEESON.--2 men and a young woman in a singing dancing and comedy act. The comedy section of the act is rather old fashioned, but still they get away with it all right. The girl is a clever dancer and also one of the men, and they finish with some very good work. 16 minutes, open full stage, close with about 3 minutes in one. GRR.--THE HARPERS.-- A man and woman (colored), and I think they are about the livliest colored team that we have played. They are both exceptionally clever dancers, and the man has a very funny personality that made a big hit this afternoon, and I have given them a better place on the bill. 11 minutes in one. GNH.--YANKEE COMEDY 4. 4 men in an eccentric, comedy and dancing act. This is the quartette that is handled by Arthur Earle; and I think it is a about the best group of performers he has had. They get quite a lot of laughs and sing very well indeed. Can easily be classed a good strong 3-show-a-day act. 19 minutes, open full stage, and close in one if necessary. 19 min., open full stage; can close in one if necessary. [[the text repeats itself]] NH.--DANCING DOYLE. -- This fellow is of the old team of Howe & Doyle, who will be remembered as about the cleverest dancers in the business a few years ago. He proved a genuine surprise this afternoon as I had no idea that he would be able to do much with a monologue, but he certainly got away with it all right. Of course, the material that he tells is all old, but the audience took him all right, and his dance is, as it always was, very strong. The only trouble was with him that he did too much, but this will be rectified tonight. 20 minutes in one. GRR.--CRAIG & ARDELL.-- Two young fellows in a comedy musical act, and both are very good. One of them makes up straight and the other is a Dutchman. They are both good musicians, the straight man good comedian. They closed their act with some very good sleighbell playing in one. It is a very good act. 21 minutes, open full stage, and close in one. GYH.--DE ONZO BROS.-- These are the people who make a specialty of jumping in and out of barrels, and they are the best in their line unquestionably in the world. 10 minutes, full stage. NH.--MORRIS & BLAIN.-- A couple of young felows in a black - face singing and dancing act. They are very neat in their make-up and pretty good dancers. They attempted a little talking this afternoon which was no exceptionally brilliant, and which I will cut out. A an early singing and dancing act they are all right. 17 minutes in one. MH.--KITTY WOLFE.-- A turn of character songs. This is the woman who was formerly of the team of Riley & Wolfe, and while there is nothing especially brilliant about the act, she is a clean cut, nicely dressed woman, making a good stage appearance, sings two or three new songs, tells one or two stories, and makes an exceptionally acceptable break between sketches and acrobatic acts. 10 minutes in one. [[end of page]] [[upper sheet obscures top of lower shee]] [[start of page]] [[?]] but had a very hard time of it up to the last song which got the audience in great shape, and enabled him to take five or six encores. When he gets on at the time he should be on, which will be at the night show and hereafter, he will do as well as he ever did in the house. 15 minutes in one. SRR.--6 GLINSERETTIS.-- A European Troupe of acrobats consisting of six men, and an all mighty good one. They do some really remarkable work and they went very strong this afternoon 10 minutes, full stage. SAR.--THE VITAGRAPH.-- The vitagraph gave us this afternoon a series of views that were instructive and interesting without any comedy at all, as they took certain subjects and sustained it throughout the entire series; it being a description of a voyage of the "Keiser Wilhelm" from Germany to New York. The pictures were very artistic indeed and very interesting. 20 minutes in one. S. K. HODGDON.
