302 CRITICISM OF SHOW. KEITH'S THEATRE,PHILA., PA. JULY 27TH Clifford & [Hall?]-17 mins.-C.D.F. in [2?] close in one- Man and woman, singing and dancing couple. Fair singing. Man is a good [dancer?]. Talk is rot. Robert Carter & Co.-20 mins.-C.D.F. in 2-Sketch "The Wise Mr. [Cone?]." Carter was stage manager at the [Grand?] Opera House here last season. He is a clever boy, and if nursed will some day be at the top. Had a woman he sent to Buffalo for, to help him. She is attractive--and clever. The boy uses lots of slang, but he handles it well. The lines are for the most part bright--and well delivered. He has a good "rough house windup" in which he smashed everything in the room. Will get a better place. More than made good. Shannon & Brown-[15?] mins. in one-Two men, german comedians,a la Roger Bros. Brown is of Carlin & Brown, who were out with "[Scotland?] [Town?]." Good Three-a-day act. Auguste Dowell-11 mins.-Gar. in 4- Man, [illegible] performer, has a good sight act,and received a strong hand. Good [illegible] act. Doronda & [Breen?]-13 mins.-Gar. in 3-Two men, club swingers;very good sight act, with nothing startling;received a small hand from a cold audience. Ed. Latell-12 mins. in one-Same old [musical?] act; always good. [Hume?] [Roon?] & {Lewis?]-17 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-close in one-Two men and one woman in a comedy sketch, introducing music and dancing. The comedian, Dick Hume (from whom [illegible] & [Vokes?] copied) is very original--and good. The act was the applause hit of the show--due to their close in one. Belle Gordan-10 mins.-Gar. in 2-Woman champion bag puncher;booked by Mr. Jordan. This woman is a wonder in her line. She has played nearly every house in the country, but the Keith Circuit. She makes a short announcement, and then starts to work. She has seven bags, with different apparatus attached to each. It is a good sight act, and is not at all offensive to Keith patrons. She received a good hand. Good enough for the circuit. [Rae?] & [Broesche?]-17 mins.-Open in one-C.D.F. in 3-close in one-Man and woman ,in a sketch, in which the woman's rapid fire talking is the feature. The man has a good German dialect, but his jokes are not exceptionally good. Good act. Lotta K. [Garrison?]-12 mins. in one-Soloist,booked by Mr. Jordan to fill in a cancel. She has had much experience in concert work;has a sweet voice, and with other selections than she rendered to-day will fill in nicely. Frank Keenan & Co.-Special C. D. F. in 2-Keenan, assisted by two women, in a sketch "The Actor and the Count," an excellent comedy sketch. Keenan is an artist of the first magnitude. His support is good. The offering was interesting throughout, and was well received. Moore & Littlefield-20 mins.-C.D.F. in 2 -close in one-In their "Behind the Scenes" act. Here once before. A novelty. Audience didn't know how to take it at first. Went well when the audience caught on. 2. Wilton Bros.-12 mins.--Wood in 4-European comedy bar act, excellent. They use triple bars, and the bouncing net. Comedian is very funny. Pleased greatly. Vitagraph-20 mins. in one-Good selection, with the Prodigal Son to close with.
