(M. J. Keating) Boston Show, Week of Sept. 14, 1903 Stereopticon, 3 shows, 5 min. in 1 -- Usual collection of home and foreign views. Mon Kelter, 3 shows, 8 min. full stage -- Bounding wire act by a clever performer. It makes a good 3-a-day "sight" act, although it is rather brief. John Healy, 3 shows, 14 min. in o1 -- Personality, I think this man is one of the funniest blackface entertainers, but unfortunately he never seems to impress our audience with the fact. He had no new material. The Albanos, 2 shows, 16 min. full stage -- This troupe consist of fourc women and a man, who play well on a variety of instruments. They went very well. Maybell Eckert, 3 shows, 8 min. in 1 - Has not changed materially since she "doubled" in vaudeville with her husband. She has only a fair amount of ability, either as a vocalist or recitationist, and just pulls through. The time of her act is too short to be of any particular value. Mr. and Mrs. Breen, 3 shows, 12 min. full stage -- Fair comedy juggling act, the man doing most of the work, although what little the woman does is executed gracefully. It makes an excellent 3-1-day turn. Tim Cronin, 2 sows, 21 min. opens in 1, goes to 3 and closes in 1 -- He is passe in this town, and only manages to get by. Do not think we will want him for some time to come. None of his material was new since the last time he played here. Frances Gerard, 2 shows, 11 min. full stage -- In every way, I think, a better act than Sandow's, as there is considerable novelty about the feats of strength he performs. Physically, he is a much better developed man than Sandow and has not yet become muscle bound, a the more famous performer. Would like to have him again. Tom Brown and Mlle. Nevarro, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1 -- Colored entertainers, in a series of character songs and dances, done in costume, that of the Chinese being the hit of their act. Finish strong. Mr. and Mrs. Crane, 2 shows, 28 min. full stage -- First time here for players and play, and both went strong. The sketch is a capital one of the mistaken identity order, and the acting is away beyond the average found in vaudeville sketches. Herbert Brookes, 3 shows, 21 min. open in 1, close in 3 -- This man is one of the cleverest card manipulatord we have ever had here, almost equaling Thurston. Finishes whit a trunk act, the box being a handsome piece of furniture and much the smallest ever used in public here. He has to fairly double himself up to get into it.
