REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF MARCH 6, 1911. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. This is a good show, but by no means as satisfactory as last week's. I think we touted Gertrude Hoffmann too strongly. For weeks we have been heralding her and while all this advance work got a tremendous advance sale it made it very hard for her to live up to all that the people expected. The audience was very restless during the first part of the show, waiting for Hoffmann, and that, too, may have had something to do with the fact that she did not make the furore that she has in some cities. However, the show is good and we expect a banner week if conditions are good. Even with a snow storm yesterday, we sold out. MILLER & MACK A neat little dancing act. Makes a nice opening act. 8 Min. in One. MR AND MRS. ALLISON In "Minnie From Minnesota." Well-known act that got considerable laughter upon its first appearance here in a number of years. 18 Min. in Full Stage. COURTNEY SISTERS Songs. These young women worked in white face, altho we had expected them to do their act blackface. They said their experiment in blackface was not successful. They have good voices but need some good songs instead of the hackneyed ones they now have that every singer of illustrated songs in the motion picture theatres is using and their appearance is a bit reminiscent of the burlesque theatres. 14 Min. in One. Went well with the evening audience. WARD & CURRAN Some new dialogue for their old act "The Terrible Judge" but the same hit as usual. 30 Min. F. S. Close in One about 3 Min. NEDERVELD'S RIDING MONKEY The bareback riding by this monkey is a novelty and got real applause but the bicycle riding is not nearly as good as we have had from Wormwood's Monkeys and some others. A good act but not to headline a bill. 9 Min. F. S. CHAS. & FANNY VAN In "The Stage Manager's Experience." Got quite a lot of laughs but not as many as last season in their old act. 19 Min. in One. Special Drop. GERTRUDE HOFFMANN and her REVUE Because we insisted upon a thorough Sunday rehearsal, this act went very smoothly. The Blue Danube Dance, the Ruth St. Dennis Dance with the Cingalese Singers and Dancers, Harry Lauder and Annette Kellermann making the biggest hits. Ran an hour and five minutes at the afternoon show DAYLIGHT MOTION PICTURES "The Poor Sick Men" and "Love Under Difficulties," two pretty good comedy subjects that went well. Pawtucket R. I. March 6--7--8 MUSIC HALL REDDED & HILTON Man and woman. singing and talking. well dressed good comedy. special drop. 15 minutes in one went very good ADELAIDE HERMANN Lady Magician. special scenery. strong act. 22 minutes makes them talk WENT BIG THREE [METHVEN?] SISTERS Singing act nicely dressed. open in one close in one. all special scenery. 14 minutes. WENT BIG 4 BRAGDONS Slap stick comedy. 4 men, singing. dancing. music. full of ginger. 15 minutes full stage. WENT BIG [Illegible signature]
