Report of PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of March 20, 1911. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. The bill this week played very well, evidently satisfying the audience. Practically everything scoring, although a couple of the acts didn't quite live up to what I had expected of them. LEWIS, HARR & CO. In a blackface sketch in which the woman gives a splendid impersonation of an old darky mammy. The men are not very good, but the thing is splendidly produced, the Swanee River scene with the steamboat getting great applause. It just misses being a real good act, which it could be by the changing of at least one of the men. 20 Min. F.S. TWO PEERLESS MACKS Young boy and girl, who give us the best No. 2 act we have had in some time. Could get by a little bit further down the bill. 13 Min. in One. THE STUBBLEFIELD TRIO One of the ladies of this act was taken suddenly ill and they didn't go on. GORDON & MARX Dutch comedians, who scored a pronounced hit. 16 Min. in One. ONAIP Piano mystery. An illusion that had the audience guessing and should create some talk. 12 Min. F.S. ELFIE FAY I had Miss Fay booked for another week and cancelled her because I had been told she only did 8 minutes. The manager who told me of this later said that she did 14. Her agent also insisted that she did 14, but the manager's first statement was correct, because she did 8 minutes and agreed she did her full act and ever did any more. With my show short in the first place and an act out, six minutes made a great difference. This information for the benefit of other managers who may book her. The time of her act was 8 minutes, no more, and I consider her a great luxury at the price we are paying her considering the quality of work she does and the time consumed. J.G. NUGENT & CO. A very clever sketch, which met with the approval of the audience. 24 Min. Open in One, Close F.S. Mr. & MRS. McGREEVY The act has been described many times and this is one of the acts that was somewhat disappointing from the standpoint of laughter and applause. They went well but failed to score the great big hit that they have been making in other places. I hope that they go better tonight, which they may do. WILL ROGERS & CO. Wild West sports. 3 men, 1 woman and 3 horses. A very showy act which scored a big hit. 19 Min. F.S. DAYLIGHT MOTION PICTURES O.K.
