C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. APRIL 3, 1911. JULIAN & DYER, 11min.F.S. One man works straight, the other clown comedy. Do the regulation ring act, also stunts with table and five chairs for the comedy falls, etc. A very good opener. Closed well. TWO MACKS. 14 min. in one. A local act that made good thoroughly well in this spot. Four changes of costume for Miss Mack. Both of them made a good appearance, sing well and dance exceptionally well. Act is full of life and ginger all through. Closed well. RUSSELL & SMITH'S MINSTRELS. 26 min.F.S. This is a ripping good minstrel feature of the old time brand with six excellent vocalists. Very good songs and plenty of good comedy and eccentric dancing. Laughter and applause for their comedy work, and a big hand for each of their vocal selections. Closed very strong with the patriotic airs and the moving picture sheet. RYAN-RICHFIELD CO. "Mag Haggerty, Osteopath." 25 min. F. S. This is the best "Mag Haggerty" sketch of them all. The poker game was irresistibly funny, but the fake osteopathic treatment with the boxing finish was a scream. Went very big. STRENGTH BROS. 7 min. in one. One of the best athletic actsin one we have had since the Bellclair Brothers, although not quite as spectacular, as they dress in ordinary costume. Each one of their feats received good applause, their work being very much out of the ordinary strong-men acts. Closed very well. SWAT MILLIGAN & CO. 17 min. F.S. Coming after Ryan-Richfield, this sketch had a hard time working up the audience to much enthusiasm. However, the baseball slang hits started the crowd going and as this is a "fan" town, the laughter increased up to a good applause close. As this is the opening week of the baseball season, the sketch will undoubtedly draw a good many to the theatre. BARRY & WOLFORD 18 min in ONE. Same act as presented here before with a few variations. Get a good deal of laughter from all parts of the housr and songs were well applauded. Held the spot in great shape. Carry their own drop representing a street in Luna Park. Closed strong. BILLY VAN & BEAUMONT SISTERS 31 min F.S. Made his unusual hit in his well known act. Introduced a lot of local stuff which got a big laugh; in fact, it was a laughing hit throughout. His guying the acts and actors preceeding him was very funny and brought the act up to a big applause finish. THE COURTIERS . 26 min F.S. This is the best act that Rolfe has ever given us, which is saying a good deal. Everyone on the cast is a soloist, and whether with ability. The scene setting and costuming are magnificent, and the act aroused constant enthusiasm. The patriotic close was immense; and on the whole, the act can be called one of the red-letter kind. KINETOGRAPH. Owing to the fact that it is baseball week, we are running the Championship Series between Athletics and the Cubs. This will help swell the interest, as the pictures are exceptionally fine. GENERAL REMARKS. This is certainly the biggest value for the money that our patrons have had in a very long time. There was not a single act below discount and the leading features were applaud acts all the way through. It undoubtedly will hold our lenten business right up to the mark. REPORT MARYLAND THEATRE Baltimore, Week April 3, 1911. 1. Four Londons' - 9 Min. Full Stage. By long odds, the greatest casting act I have ever seen. They introduce several tricks that are marvelous, and that have never been here before. Minnie St. Clair - 14 Min. in 1 - A favorite here and going just as big as ever. Mollie and Nellie King - 16 Min. Full Stage. Can close in 1 Two dainty artists and have a neat and pleasing offering on the Tempest and Sunshine style. They are going exceptionally well, and holding this spot nicely. 2. Fred Duprez - 18 Min. in 1 - As good a line of material, and doing as well as any single man this season. Hopkins-Axtell Co., - 15 Min. in 1 1/2. A good little worthy sketch with several changes in scenery, and closed the first part of the bill in an acceptable manner. International Polo Players - 15 Min. Full Stage. An interesting novelty that works the audience up to quite a bit of excitment by their many sensational plays. Swor & Mack - 16 Min. in 1 - Held the spot in great shape, and closed very stormy. 3. "Darling of Paris"- 29 Min. Full Stage. Own Set. This handsomely mounted and attractively costumed offering has given entire satisfaction, and I think will draw some money for us. By long odds the best of all pantomime productions. Kinetograph - O.K.
