REPORT OF COLONIAL, LAWRENCE, WEEK OF APRIL 17, 1911. John F. Adams, Critic. Anne Buckley's comedy canine actors. A very clever animal act that is out of the ordinary and makes a big hit. 13 min. in two and a half, own set. Kelly and Davis - colored act calling themselves "Assassinators of the Blues" they ought to be assassinated themselves. Geo Auger and Co. - in "Jack the Giant-Killer" second time here, pleased only. 17 min. full stage. Reidy and Currier - always a favorite with us. Went big. 14 min. in one, own drop. E. Frederic Hawley and Co. - in "The Bandit" this is their opening week after Mrs. Hawley breaking her leg here Feb. 6th. The ovation that they are receiving is something wonderful, after taking half dozen curtains Mr. Hawley is obliged to make a curtain speech before they will let them off. Mrs. Hawley has fully recovered the use of her ankle and if anything is working better than before. 24 min. own set. Fred Ward - monologuist. Went very good. 14 min. in one. Ten Vassar Girls - in their musical act, own set. Three different scenes, a very fine musical act, staged and costumed great and making a very big hit. 24 min. Motion Pictures O. K. COLUMBUS REPORT FOR WEEK APRIL 24TH, 1911. W. W. PROSSER. PAULINETTI AND PIQUO: Two men in grotesque, acrobatic and hand balancing work. The several stunts introduced were received with moderate favor and a fairly strong finish was scored. 10 minutes special in 3. Closed olio in one. GIBNEY AND BICKNELL: Man and woman in variety skit, "Small Town Johnny". This act amounts to very little. It really does not seem to be a regular number. The girl makes a pretty good appearance but the man's impersonation of a "Small Town Johnny" is hardly worth while. The Theme is a threadbare idea, a person advertising for an assistant in dramatic work. There were a few scattered laughs and the act is talky. There is nothing in particular to recommend it. Sort of died a natural death at the finish. 15 minutes C. D. F. in three. PEGGY MONROE: Character comedienne. This young woman opens with a straight number, follows with a Rube Girl song, goes to a kid number and closes with a barefoot newsboy song. The first three numbers just about get by and the finishing song rounded out a fair finish. Nothing to brag about. 16 minutes street in one. AL RAYNO'S BULL DOGS: This well known animal act made a very good impression and scored a good strong finish. Garden and special set in three, 11 min. NICHOLS SISTERS: This well known black-faced sister team won laughter and applause throughout and finished strong. 15 minutes landscape in one. MRS. GARDNER CRANE & CO. One woman and five men in a new farce, "The Little Sunbeam"-- The scene represents the interior of a Pullman. There is a good comedy story that is well worked out. Laughter and applause at various points and a moderately strong finish. 29 minutes special in one. WORK & OWER: Well known comedy acrobats who went well throughout and finished strong. 6 olio in one. THE COURTIERS: Elaborate instrumental and vocal offering by the well known producer, B. A. Rolie. A very elaborate interior set is used. Beautiful Colonial costumes are shown. Both vocal and instrumental numbers went big and the act throughout made a very favorable impression. Finished strong. Special set in five, 24 minutes. MOVING PICTURES: O. K.
