MAY 15, 1911. BERTISCH. 12 min. F.S. On account of the breaking of his apparatus just as the curtain arose for his act at the matinee, he was so seriously handicapped that it was impossible for him to appear at all. Hope to have the apparatus in shape so that he can appear tonight, however. Night show: An exceptionally good act, showmanlike and novel. Closed strong CARBREY BROS. 9 min. in one. Very good eccentric wooden-shoe dancing on the mat, introducing a lot of new steps and getting some scattered applause, closing very well. BARNES & CRAWFORD. 22 min. F.S., close in one. A very entertaining lot of nonsense that kept the audience in good humor right up to the finish. Barnes certainly is an original comedian and Miss Crawford makes a very pleasing appearance and sings well. Altogether a tip-top act to wake up any house. MABEL BARDINE & CO. "Jim Grantley's Wife." 15 min. F.S. A good sketch, well presented. Deals with the infatuations of a young girl for a married man, leading up to a possible elopement and the foiling of the plot by a faithful brother of the girl. Held the interest of the audience throughout, closing well. HEIM CHILDREN. 16 min. in one. These two clever little funmakers gave an entirely new line of stuff today, all of which was good and received laughter and applause throughout. One of the best of the kind in the business, and showed constant improvement. Closed with an encore. "ROMANCE OF THE UNDERWORLD." 40 min. F.S. This act has created a profound impression here, and has been highly praised by eminent jurists, press and the public. It continues to hold the admiration of the audiences, as it well deserves, being one of the most original and convincing dramas ever seen in vaudeville. LEE LLOYD. 21 min. in one. Advance applause. Lloyd made a very good impression today with some good character songs well put over, and is well accompanied by his side partner. Applause was generous, and he closed well. MUSICAL CUTTYS. 20 min. F.S., close in one. Advance applause. These people are great favorites here and it is needless to say that they can fill any spot on the bill with entire credit. A really splendid musical act from every standpoint. Closed immense after their "Mme. Sherry" selection in various burlesques, and gave a well applauded encore. SIMON-GARDNER & CO. "The New Coachman." 28 min. F. S. It goes without saying that this act was a solid scream all the way through. Have been playing it once a season since the house opened and it went today just as well as ever, sending the crowd out in the best of humor. KINETOGRAPH. "The Baby Fortune Hunters." So many child pictures depict the bad boy side of juvenile life to get a laugh, it is refreshing to get a film like this that is picturesque and carries a pretty story, with nothing the slightest bit open to criticism. GEN. REMARKS. This show pleased everybody, and with the excellent showing that the newspapers have given us on the "Underworld" act, we should do good business considering the time of the year. CUT T. ROY BARNES. The "tapeworm" joke.
