C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JUNE 5, 1911. MABELLE FONDA TROUPE. 7 min. F. S. Two pretty girls and two men. Their work is swift and sure, with no failures. Makes a splendid opener. Not only do they do expert club-swinging, but introduce dancing specialties. Got considerable applause all through and a good finish. JOHN, JENNIE HAMILTON & JOHN. 15 min. in one. A local act which took the place of the Musical Craigs. Favorites here and thoroughly made good with their vocal work and particularly with their dancing. A well dressed act and right up to the standard for an early spot. Finished big. MEYERS, WARREN & LYON. 28 min. F.S., close in one. this is a thoroughly good act all the way through, every one of the singing and dancing specialties, whether singly or together, made a hit. A very clever act. Received splendid applause and repeated encores. The close in one was immense and the audience did not want to let them go. Compelled to give an encore. COVINGTON & WILBER. "The Parsonage." 21 min. F.S. this is a very strong protean act and splendidly presented. Held the interest of the audience throughout and made a very strong close. The changes of character were with lightning rapidity and all of them convincing. One of the best protean acts we have ever played. VICTORIA FOUR. 16 min. in one. These people held the spot in fine shape. Received good applause for every one of their selections. Introduce considerable comedy, which got the crowd and were compelled to give an encore. WILFRED CLARKE & CO. "What Will Happen Next?" 16 min. F. S. Advance applause for Clarke. This well known act went just as big as ever all the way through and closed uproariously. CONROY & LeMAIRE. "The Pinochle Fiends." 22 min. in one. this act is one big scream. Received advance applause and all of their material is exceedingly clever and put over in their individual style. It is far superior to their "King of the Blackwellis." The finish which involved the orchestra and the plant in the box, got the crowd in good shape. Closed strong. RIGOLETTO BROS. 44 min. F.S. This act is well known, and our opinion here of it is about the same as elsewhere; that while they are versatile, they do nothing exceptionally well and introduce nothing new. About once for an act of this kind would be all we would ever want to use it. Went fairly well with a pretty good finish. KINETOGRAPH. "The Making of Edam Cheese in Holland." A very interesting travel film that comes out especially fine on our Photoplane. GENERAL REMARKS. this is certainly a strong Summer show and equal almost to any of our Winter show. There is not a weak spot on the bill, and the audience stamped it with approval with big applause. It means big business. BOSTON SHOW WEEK JUNE 5, 1911. R. G. Larsen. (Monday Night Show.) THE DORLANS. 11 minutes f.s. this is another crackerjack opening act, with very fair comedy, while the work of the man on the trampoline is certainly great. One of the best we have had in the house. Closed very big at both shows. BRENT HAYES. Banjoist. 16 minutes in one. For a single banjo entertainer this man is very, very, good, and held this spot in great shape. LEONARD & WHITNEY. 16 minutes f.s. "Duffy's Rise." This is simply a comedy talking sketch and held the spot remarkably well to-night, with laughs all through. KATE WATSON. 13 minutes in one. Unquestionably one of the best "Sis Hopkins" acts we have ever played here. She went very big at both performances and to-night closed exceptionally strong. SERGEANT BRENNAN. Diabolo expert. 12 minutes f.s. Doing pretty much the same act as when here before and a good novelty for the summer show. JAMES DIAMOND & CLARA NELSON. 26 minutes in one. Here is a real new "find" in one. They have a good line of stuff, the girl is very pretty, and Diamond certainly has a splendid personality. They went very big at both performances here to-day. ADOLPH GLOSE. 13 minutes f.s. Can work in one. Doing several impersonations of great composers, and some piano pieces of his own. This is pretty far down on the bill for an act of this kind, but Mr. Glose got away with it at both performances and proved to be one of the best acts of the kind we have put on. At the figure he is really good value. SWOR & MACK. Blackface comedians. 16 minutes in one. A good line of stuff. Held the spot in great shape. "CONSUL." 25 minutes f.s. "Consul" has a number of new tricks, such as sharpshooting and exercising, but for all that I cannot see him in the same class with "Peter," who was a live monk at all times and got new comedy at every performance.
