C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JULY 3, 1911. MARIA RACKO & BRO. 8 min. F.S. Head-and-hand Balancers. Make a fine appearance in brown silk tights, and do some extraordinary feats of strength and balancing skill, some of the stunts never seen here before. Make an exceptionally good opener, although it could hold a good spot on any bill. Closed with applause. RONAIR & WARD. 14 min. in one. Singing, Dancing and Patter. Carry an effective drop showing an ocean pier and the beach which is pleasing to a warm weather crowd. Miss Ronair is pretty, has a pleasing personality, sings well and is evidently a good dancer, although her extreme hobble skirt costumes do not give her much opportunity in that direction. Her costumes are very stunning. They have a good line of humorous patter, a pleasing selection of songs, and altogether the act went well, closing to good applause. WROE'S TWENTY LITTLE DANCING BUDS. 28 min. F.S. This is Walter Wroe's annual showing from the pick of his dancing academies, but never before has he brought together so many clever little people and put on such a thoroughly artistic and novel feature as this one. The applause for the little people was continuous. Mr. Wroe has costumed his act beautifully, the evolutions and the music show careful attention to detail, and there is no evidence of amateurishness. Closed to several encores. SWOR & MACK. 17 min. in one. while these blackface comedians have some good material, much of their work is patterned after their forerunners. The imitation crap-game and the burlesque poker-playing are both novel and very funny, winning a strong hand. The eccentric dancing closed the act in fine style. Altogether this is a very good act. ETHEL MacDONOUGH. 12 min. in one. Carries her own drop. Opens with a song in extreme harem-skirt costume which went fairly well. Proceeds to her shadowgraph undressing scene and appears in a diving costume of the "Divine Myrna" with another song. this also received fair applause. The third part of her act is her drumming and the song accompanying. In this, she wears a very stunning costume and, of course, gets a winning hand for her spirited work with the drum sticks. Closed well. EDWIN HOLT & CO. "The Mayor and the Manicure." 23 min. F.S. Act is well known. Held the interest as usual, with plenty of laughter for the bright lines throughout. One of the best comedy playlets in vaudeville and admirably presented. Finished strong. TOM WATERS. 17 min. in one. Gave his usual line of mono-piano-logue comedy, supplemented by two new songs and two new stories. Received liberal applause for all of his work, and responded to two encores. Closed well. ODIVA. 21 min. F.S. Unquestionably the peer of all the "Diving Venus" acts, put on in a showman-like manner and full of novelty. She not only does all kinds of fancy swimming in a colossal "open-face" tank swarming with gold fish, doing some diving that beats Kellermann outright, but her work under water, such as sewing cloth, feeding the goldfish from her lips, holding her breath for several minutes and other remarkable stunts, caught the crowd very strong. This act has been seen elsewhere in this town, but it must be entirely new to our audiences judging from the liberal applause. Makes the best closing feature for hot weather that could be imagined. KINETOGRAPH. "Max Has To Go To Work." A very amusing Max comedy film. GEN. REM. This is a very good summer bill, and although the thermometer registered 99 on the streets, and the audience rather listless, the show played off well, and if we have any sort of favorable weather, we should do a good week's business. Music Hall, Pawtucket, R. I. Week of July 3-4-5 Cronin Comedy Trio - 2 men and a woman - in His Room-Mate - Decorations good - 17 min - went poor - Cole & Coleman - Man and woman - "Eccentric Comedy Musicians" - 12 min in one - went good. The Langdons - 2 men and a woman in a "Night on the Boulevard" - effects good - 18 min - went extra good
