C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JULY 31. 1911 DE VOIE TRIO. 8 min. F.S. Make a fine entrance in spotlight, one athlete carrying the other two on extended arms. Applause. Proceed with work on suspended rings, all of it novel and getting a hand. Well-dressed and showmanlike. Closed very well. Makes a good opener. HARRY ANTRIM. "The Odd Fellow." 14 min. in 1. Songs, imitations of familiar sounds, telephone stunt, trick bone-playing, imitations of cello, piccolo, etc. All right for an early spot. Closed fairly well. O'BRIEN, HAVEL & KYLE. In Cressy's Play, "Monday." 20 min. F.S. A good laughing sketch on slender foundations, but the lines are clever and the situations likewise, whereas the ginger the trio put into the act makes it hold the spot all O.K. Closed very well. VAN BROTHERS. 17 min. in 1. One works straight, the other eccentric. A lot of amusing nonsense, ending with some good work on the saxophones. Carry their own drops representing a country General Store. Made a fair impression. LA TITCOMB. 17 min. F.S. "The Singer on Horseback." Second appearance here and made good with excellent vocal selections, spectacular effects and horse-training stunts, all well applauded. Closed strong after the butterfly "dance" on horseback with beautiful light effects. JOHNNIE JOHNSTON. "The Poet and the Peasant." 12 min. in 1. Works eccentric. Sang three selections, not received with over much enthusiasm. Closed with a grand overture (Poet and Peasant), to which he has supplied parody words. Only a fair finish. Will be changed on the bill. ROSE COGHLAN & CO. "Between Matinee and Night." 23 min. F.S. A really brilliant sketch splendidly presented in every detail. Held the interest of the audience throughout, working up to a fine climax. Finished to big applause. COOK & LORENZ?- "Two Millionaires." 20 min. in 1. going to 2 and finishing in 1. Use piano in 2. Well-known act. A lot of very amusing nonsense that keeps the audience in laughter throughout, particularly pleasing to the children. Closed exceptionally well with the fake violinist and the eccentric dancing. An all-right act for this hard spot. MARTINETTIE & SYLVESTER. "The Boys with the Chairs." 7 min. F.S. Well-known knockabout, slapstick clown and acrobat act. Some advance applause showing that they were well remembered. Usual rough-and-tumble, table-and-chairs all-over-stage act familiar to everybody, but still continues to get the laugh. Makes a good closer as usual. KINETOGRAPH. ATHLETIC CARNIVAL, UNIVERSITY OF PENN. Fine films, but mainly interesting locally. ON THE FRONTIER OF THIBET. Fine travel film, exceptionally well photographed and an unknown country. GEN. REMARKS. While not a show that comes up to the Winter standard, it is all right for this time of year and should make good, weather conditions permitting, which is already predicted in our favor. Cuts--O'Brien, Havel & Co/--"What the H---." Also, reference to "Three Weeks." COOK & LORENZ--Business of spitting in face and reference to swimming in Atlantic. Music Hall Pawtucket R. I. 3 days July 31st Aug 1--2 Millar Musical 3 2 men and a woman, miliatery costumes, poor comedy good music, 17 minutes, went good.
