FIFTH AVENUE THEATRE REPORT ON SHOW WEEK OF JULY 31st, 1911. ROEDER & LESTER GARDEN FULL STAGE. Man and woman on rings. O. K. for Union Square. ARLINGTON COMEDY FOUR. STREET 1. Same as usual. Did well here in fact about the best act on the bill. MR. & MRS. HUGH J. EMMETT SPECIAL 2. They carry a roughly painted drop which is about the best thing in the act. The man attempts ventriloquism, and we say attempts advisedly, for he is about the poorest ventriloquist ever seen. The woman plays the piano to accompany the dummies. This might almost be classed to ventriloquism, what Martini & Maximillian's act is to a real magic act. Most of the material is borrowed--and worn out at that. The act has little or no class and was a big disappointment. HOWARD & LAURENCE FULL STAGE OPEN. Singing, dancing and patter. Did fairly well. KNUTE ERICKSON OLIO 1. Does character songs, making his changes on stage and closing with a burlesque illustrated song that is somewhat, but mildly humorous. Will improve with work. VALERIE BERGERE C. D. F. "She Wanted Affection" by Edgar Allen Woolf. One of the dullest sketches we have played. Ullie Akerstrom played a Swedish servant, and was the best thing in the act and overshadowed the rest of the company. MELVILLE & HIGGINS Street 1. Good comedy material, put over in a case hardened medicine man manner. Make-up best of the act and gets most of the laughs. EIGHT MADCAPS GARDEN, FULL STAGE. Good lively act for closing and takes some of the bad taste away. They need some new clothes, as there dresses are pretty well worn and dull. KINETOGRAPH. "A CLOSE CALL" A good lively story picture. NOTE;- This show is week and not likely to get much money. Robert E Irwin Manager
