HUDSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. JOHN C. PEEBLES. Week of September 18, 1911. KING BROTHERS Equilibrists. One of the best balancing acts I have ever played. They make a good appearance, work fast and do several hair-raising stunts. Will make more than good for any house. Own plush drop in 3. time 8 min. MILDRED GROVER Assisted by Dick Richards. Miss Grover has a most pleasing personality and has a fine line of songs. Mr. Richards assists on the piano. This act has given better satisfaction than any act I have ever played in this spot and I am certain act could go further down on any bill and please. Olio in 1. Time 19 min. FIVE DE WOLFS "The Fresh Air Fund." This is a comedy sketch with the two elder DeWolfs and the three children. Found the act very draggy at the opening and suggested to DeWolf that he chop out about two-thirds of the talk and get into the specialties. The work of the children is really what commends the act and where children can be played act should get over in an early spot. Our set cottage in 3. (Can close in 1) Time 22 min. FOX AND WARD Veterans of Minstrelsy. It was really a please today to hear the audience "eat up" the old stuff these two veterans passed over. I confess they handed me many good laughs during the time they were on the stage. Own drop in 1. Time 17 min. SNYDER & BUCKLEY "The Two-Man Band" For genuine musical comedians give me this pair. They went very big with our audiences today and should be a big laughing hit anywhere. C.D.Fcy in 3. 6 min close in 1. Time 20 min. HAL DAVIS & CO., "What would you Do?" Davis has a very clever comedy vehicle and an exceedingly clever woman assisting him in the act. Following all the comedy ahead of him it was pretty tough travelling but he managed to keep the audience interested and took four curtains at the finish. An earlier spot on the bill would give him better opportunities. Parlor in 3. Time 19 min. VICTORIA FOUR Vaudeville's Classiest Singing Quartet. Four nice looking young chaps, neatly dressed and possessing voices that harmonize well. Held this spot in good shape. Street in 1. Time 15 min. SHERMAN, DE FOREST & CO. "A Jay Circus." Managers looking for a rough, slap-stick comedy closing act need not hesitate about playing this. Personally I have never seen a funnier act and for 17 minutes they have the audience fairly shrieking their heads off. Own set in 3- Open in 1, 4 min. Time 17 min. Balance of week show will run in this order: 1, King Bros., 2, 5 DeWolfs, 3, Grover & Richards; 4, Hal Davis & Co., 5, Fox & Ward; 6, Snyder & Buckley; 7, Victoria Four; 8 Sherman & DeForest.
