TRENT THEATRE CRITICISM, WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 18, 1911 By J. F. Clancy. OVERTURE KEITH & KERNAN On at 2.28, off at 2.40. Songs illustrated with pictures made of colored sands. The illustrations for the songs are somewhat of a novelty but the singing is of a rather inferior quality. AL & FANNY STEDMAN On at 2.40, off at 2.55. Singing, dancing and piano playing. Work all in "one." Act opens up fine, drags a little in the middle but finishes in good shape. FREY TWINS On at 2.55, off at 3.04. Uses full stage. This well-known act went unusually big at the opening show today, in fact their reception was so gratifying that for the remainder of the week we will have them close the show. ARTHUR J. PICKENS & CO. On at 3.04, off at 3.20. A comedy sketch, entitled "Freddie." Works entirely in "one." The idea of a sketch in "one" is on itself a novelty. While the act is very good, it is not quite strong enough to close the first half of the show. INTERMISSION ROBERTY TRIO On at 3.30, off at 3.41. A French dancing act, works entirely in full stage. Personally, I think the work of this trio is simply wonderful, but judging from the applause this afternoon my opinion was not shared by the audience. This act certainly fell below our expectations. NONETTE, THE GYPSY VIOLINISTE On at 3.41, off at 3.55. This little girl simply cleaned up this afternoon, taking eight bows at the close of her act. JACK HASKELL & LILLIAN FITZGERALD On at 3.55, off at 4.15 A comedy singing and dancing production in five scenes. This act employs some very novel settings and the costuming is unusually elaborate. The singing numbers are good and the dancing particularly fine. This act is new, in fact it opened here this afternoon. I think it has excellent possibilities but will need a lot of rehearsing before it will be in first class shape. Music Hall, Pawtucket, R. I. Week of Oct. 9-10-11 James Morrison & Co. - 3 men - Sketch - "The Verdict" - 22 min - went good Travers & Laurenze - man and woman - "The Lady and the Dope Fiend" - 14 min in one - went good Flanagan & Edwards - 2 men - Comedy Sketch - "On and Off" - 17 min - went big Joe Edmonds & Co. - 5 women, 3 men - Musical Comedy - "The Naked Truth" - 27 min - went good
