HUSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. JOHN C. PEEBLES. Week of September 25, 1911. GUERTIN, GERMAINE & WESTON. Comedy Athletic Act. This act is away from all other opening acts and went over in great shape today. Guertin does some very clever broad and high jumping while Weston introduces some effective bag punching. Germaine is the comedian and gets some laughs in his burlesque boxing. The act is well staged and the boys look neat. Own cyclorama drop in 3. Time 14 min. WALTER JAMES Monologue Comedian. This boy has a good appearance and gets his stuff over in good shape. His routine is entertaining and his songs went particularly well. Street in 1. Time 15 min. WILLIAM MORROW & CO., in "Happy's Millions." This is a western sketch with special drop in 1. Story is fairly interesting and a couple of songs lend novelty to the act. The supers used this afternoon were not up in their lines and some of them had stage fright. The act got over, however, in spite of these handicaps. Own drop in 1. Time 15 min. JACK HASKELL, LILLIAN FITZGERALD & CO in "Echoes from Broadway." Time 20 min. Own set in 4. This is a girl act with six girls besides the two principals. There is no question that a lot of money has been laid out on the act in the way of scenery, costumes and effects and when it gets to running a little smoother will prove an attractive novelty on any program. There were several unavoidable hitches at the matinee which got some of the people "up in the air" but the act went over strong and registered a substantial hit with the audience. MAYME REMINGTON and her "PIX." Following the big dancing act just in front I had my doubts about this act getting over with the audience. It proved to be the big applause hit of the bill and the audience was applauding for more when the cards were out for the next act. It is one of the fastest and best pickaninny acts I have ever seen on a vaudeville stage and a fast number for almost any spot on any bill. Garden drop in 1. Time 18 min. CLAUD AND FANNIE USHER in "Fagin's Decision." Act too well known to need comment beyond saying that it more than pleased the audience today. C.D.Fcy in 3. Time 26 min. JAMES B. DONOVAN & CHAS. MC DONALD in "My Good Old Friend." This is Donovan, formerly of Donovan & Arnold and McDonald, formerly McDonald and the Reading Sisters. They have a novelty in the way of a two-man talking act that should prove an attractive offering on any program. They make up as two old Irishmen who have had a quarrel and finally make up. The talk between the two is unusually good and won many laughs while their finish, with a "plant" in front took them off to big applause and laughter. When I booked the act I was under the impression that it was all in one but the act is played with their own drop in two, necessitating shifting them to an earlier spot in the bill to avoid a stage wait. Own drop in 2. Time 19 min. GEO. B. RENO & CO., "The Misfit Army." A big laughing hit. Open in 1, 2 min, then to full stage Time 18 min. Bal. of week bill will run-1, G.G. & Weston; 2, Morrow & Co; 3, Donovan & McDonald; 4, Walter James.
