HUDSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. JOHN C. PEEBLES. Week of October 2, 1911. LIEUT. ROBERT ELDRIDGE. The Sand Picture Man. Uses a special cyclorama drop showing an army camp. He appears in army dress, works fast and his pictures are interesting. His patter is entertaining and it makes a most acceptable opening act. Closes in 1 with stereoptican views of life in the Phillipines with a short but entertaining talk accompanying each picture. Special set in 3, 9 min-6 min close in 1. Time 15 min. OVERING TRIO. Clever juvenile entertainers. These youngsters proved one of the biggest applause hits of the bill today. They look well, have good singing voices and should prove an acceptable act to any manager who can play children. Olio drop in 1. time 14 min. DODDRIDGE, SIMON & SIEFERT. A Little of Everything. This is the old Warren, Lyons and Myers act with three new people under Mrs. Warren's direction. The new people are very clever and the act is entertaining throughout. C.D.Fcyin 3, close in 1, 5 min. Time 20 min. ARTURO BERNARDI. Protean Artist. Bernardi did not go particularly strong at the matinee in the #6 spot so moved him here tonight where he went over big and took innumerable curtains at the finish. His first part of the act proved rather tiresome to my "wise" ones in at the matinee, probably on account of the sketch being played in the Italian dialect. He was forgiven, however, in his impersonations of famous composers and also in the closing sketch where he shows how his rapid changes are made. Special set in 3. Time 25 min. ARTHUR WHITELAW Irish Comedian. I have never caught Whitelaw with better material than he has now. He makes a good appearance, his stuff is clean and his stories and songs went well with both audiences today. Street in 1. Time 14 min. E.F. HAWLEY & CO., "The Bandit." This act proved one of the big applause hits of the program today. It is the first time here in two years and Hawley received a good reception on his entrance. Consider this one of the best dramatic acts in vaudeville. Special set in 3. Time 21 min. BIXLEY & LERNER The Melba and Caruso of Vaudeville. this is the old Bixley and Fink act and Lerner looks enough like Fink to pass for him. They are using practically the same material with the grand opera finish. Went a little slow at the start but finished strong. Street in 1. Time 19 min. CHICK & CHICKLETS. Comedy Bicycle act. One of the best comedy bicycle acts i have ever played and received more laughter and applause than any closing act we have had this season. Have got a lot of new comedy stuff and the children in the act are attractive and ride well. Garden in 4. Time 15 min.
