FIFTH AVENUE THEATRE REPORT. Oct. 9th. 1911. Gordon Bros. & Kangaroo Wood 8 Min. Two men who give an exhibition of bag punching and close with a burlesque boxing match with the kangaroo. The animal does not seem to work very well and in fact can hardly be coaxed to stand on his hind legs let alone box. A Very tame exhibition that went for little and the entire act lacks any class. The Kemps Olio 1 17 Min. Colored entertainers, man and women who do a little talking, singing and dancing. The man has a fair voice, but the act does not seem to get over to any extent. Williard Simms & Co. C.D.F. Cl 1 26 Min. "Flinder's furnished flat." The same old act, that seem to have grown rather stale in the telling. The woman is not the same as formerly and is distinctly not an improvement. Kate Watson Olio 1 10 Min. An eccentric comedienne on the Sis Hopkins order, who does a little talking and sings a couple of songs. She was no riot, and in fact seems several years behind the times in her material. Helena Fredericks Ex F.S. 24 Min. "Cavalleria Rusticana." Miss Fredericks has a good voice and is fairly supported by a company of 4, 2 male and 2 female. The act is to long for vaudeville and much to sombre. It went fairly well at the finish. Grant & Hoag Olio 20 Min. The offering of these two has not changed materially, Miss Hoag make a nice appearance and is a good feeder. Many of their gems of wit were lost as we had them here with the Old Timers. Went only fair. Ring Act, man and women, who do nothing out of the ordinary, and are a fair small act. Kinetograph. Pathe's Weekly. Note. The show contains no drawing cards and in fact no New York headliner. Seven of the nine acts have some singing if not entirely composed of that branch of entertainment and the show is therefore monotonous and uninteresting. With three sketches, and no novelty in any of them, I can not look forward to a very big week. Robert E Irwin Manager.
