C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. OCT. 9, 1911. MACK & WILLIAMS. 18 min. open in two and a half, close in one. A very lively singing and dancing act, with three changes of costume on the part of Miss Williams. Mr. Mack has a good line of patter and his wooden-shoe dancing is out of the ordinary. Good applause at the close after the stair dance. "THE MAGIC KETTLE." 17 min. F.S. Very interesting experiments with liquid oxygen. Held the attention of the audience and everybody seemed to be quite mystified. Not a big applause act, but all right for this spot. Good applause at the finish. WELCH, MEALY & MONTROSE. 19 min. in one. The same act as presented here before with some new stuff. Held the spot in great shape. Closed strong. MARINI & BRONSKI. Russian Dancers. A very artistic dancing act, beautifully costumed and filled requirements in this spot very well indeed. The "Butterfly" dance at the finish was especially good and got a fine hand. COL. SAM. HOLDSWORTH. 12 min. in one. Advance applause. The Colonel has certainly a marvellously well-preserved voice. Each one of his selections was applauded very well. Makes a fine appearance and has a very impressive personality. Closed strong. "ROMANCE OF THE UNDERWORLD." 41 min. No variations from the act as presented before, although the cast was different in two roles, and not so convincing. Held the attention of the crowd very well, however, with occasional applause. Good closing hand. One of the best melodramatic sketches that we have ever played. HOWARD & HOWARD. "The Porter and the Salesman." 19 min. in one. These people always go immensely well here, and today were a positive riot of fun in their new act. All new material and all of it mighty good. These boys have worked themselves into the front ranks. Closed very strong. DUNEDIN TROUPE. 14 min. F.S. This act makes a good closer, all of the cycle work is very expert, particularly that done on the taut wire. One of the girls is a good gymnast and adds a little comedy to the act. Good closing hand. KINETOGRAPH. "Pathe Illustrated Weekly." A mighty good film, interesting from start to finish. Owing to a long show, we had to cut it down a little, but it looks as if the illustrated weekly film idea has come to stay. GENERAL REMARKS. This show gave entire satisfaction today, and although there is nothing of the supreme headline order, it will undoubtedly make good for the balance of the week with our "regulars."
