B. F. KEITH'S HIPPODROME Oct. 24, 1911 Cleveland, O. F. W. Brandt CRITICISM SPRAGUE & McNEECE Man and woman, F.S. Special black drop. Roller skating act. Very neatly costumed and is a good act to open the show with. 9 min. This act goes to DETROIT. FIELD BROS. Two men, singing and dancing. Pretty good act, nothing wonderful, but seemed to make good in this spot. 9 min. This act goes to PITTSBURG. BOWERS, WALTERS & CROKER F.S. Close in one. This is the same old act they did as long as I can remember. The only difference I can see is they're growing older and do not work with the vim they used to work with. Their close in one was the only part of the act that was as good as when they were here before. This act goes to TOLEDO. MAY TULLY & CO. In an act called "The Battle-Cry of Freedom". What the title of this sketch has got to do with the act, I have been unable to fathom. The scene is a bed-room with two beds and two dressers. Two ladies, who are supposed to be married to the same man, claim the same room and start undressing. The audience at this point was very much worried and they continued to be worried after listening to some of the dialogue, as the remarks were about as broad as anything we've had in the Hippodrome since I have been there. I don't think the class of people that we cater to enjoy this kind of an act. To my mind, it would be a good act for the Burlesque House. 23 min. int. This act goes to PITTSBURG. NONETTE Violinist. This act is very well known and went just as big if not better than before. Up to this time, she was the hit of the bill. 15 min. in one. This act goes to BUFFALO. THE WONDER KETTLE This act is very similar to the old Magic Kettle or sometimes called liquid air. He practically does about the same things, such as making tea on ice, freezing flowers, making a hammer out of quicksilver, and practically all the things that they did with liquid air. He received very little applause during the act but got a good hand at finish. F.S. 14 min. This act goes to COLUMBUS. WYNN & RUSSON Talking act. This is about as good a talking act as we have had in some time. The stuff is bright, clean and witty and went very well in this hard spot. He still uses the funny hat, which always gets a lot of laughs. 16 min. in one. This act goes to CINCINNATI. ROMANY OPERA CO. This act is also very well known and is to my mind just as good, if not better than when last seen here. They have as good a selection of voices as any act that was ever played here. I am very sorry they have to close the show, as I think they would be of a good deal more value to me if they were about No. 7 instead of 8. I realize this is almost impossible as they close the act with a throwing of paper into the audience and it would be rather hard to clean up for the next act. I can't say too much for this act as a singing act. 23 min. F.S. Special set. Open.
