Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of October 23, 1911. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. The show plays very well indeed and is a fitting successor to the splendid program of last week. REED BROS. These people neglected to pay the excess on their baggage before leaving New York with the consequence that their baggage did not arrive in time for the shows and will not be here until tomorrow. An act from Pawtucket is being brought in to open the show tonight. O'BRIEN, HAVEL & CO. It was an unfavorable position for these people to be obliged to open the afternoon show, but making all due allowances, it is probably the weakest act on the bill. I cannot see that it in any way lives up to the strong reports that I have seen for them in one or two other cities. The act is all right to play but I would not advise depending upon it for anything important. 20 Min. F. S. JIMMY LUCAS Dialect songs. Seemed to be as well liked here as reports show him to have been in other cities. 12 Min. in One. "EVERYBODY" This act made a most favorable impression upon the audience this afternoon and I consider it a very satisfactory act. It is a decided novelty and the people in it are capable. I hardly think it is as good an act as "Everywife," but considering the difference in the salary I would far prefer to play it and I think that same opinion would prevail if I had a house in one of the larger cities. The story is just as good as the "Everywife" story excepting the finish, which is better in the "Everywife" act, but there are touches of comedy in this and it doesn't seem to drag as much as "Everywife" does. It is not as protentious looking but you get the same result in a general way and when you consider it is just half the money, as I said before, I consider this preferable. Thoroughly all right to headline any house in the world. 30 Min. Long opening in One. Finish F.S. MAYME REMINGTON & PIX Regulation act of the kind that is about on a par with what she has always given us. 18 Min. in One. BERT LESLIE & CO. In "Hogan, the Painter." Leslie had them in screams with his slang and altho the company is hardly first-class that seems to be forgotten in the work that Leslie does. 16 Min. F. S. JOLLY, WILD & CO. About the same calibre of act that they have given us before and it met with hearty approval. 20 Min. in One. HICKEY'S CIRCUS The same big scream. A decidedly better act than Berzac's. A fitting finale for a very good show. 13 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O. K. THE ELLIOTTS I desire to make a report on THE ELLIOTTS who opened with us last Tuesday for the remainder of last week. This is a man and woman, harpists and singers, (using two harps in the act) who play some selections of a semi-classical and popular nature, which went very well. The man has a beautiful baritone voice and he sings some of the old songs in a most pleasing manner; the woman sings well also. In spite of the fact that I was obliged to put the act on to open the show, a most difficult place for a quiet act of this kind, they, nevertheless, made a big hit and I shall be glad to play them back some time. 12 Min. in One.
