HUDSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. Week of Nov. 13th, 1911. Jean Kernan. GEO. E. AUSTIN & Co. Full stage. 13 min. man and woman, man in eccentric makeup woman made up as Sis Hopkins. This is practically the same act he has been doing for years. He worked 15 min. at the matinee and the act dragged. Had him cut out some of his old gags and at the night show the act worked faster and went better. Only a fair opening act. JAMES BROCKMAN. Opens in 1. goes to 2. and closes in 1. 4 min. He impersonates in song and make-up four different characters, the roue, grocers boy, apache and the shabby legit, carrying a special drop for each number. A fair No. 2. act. time 15 min. REGAL & WINSCH. F.S. close in 1. 6 min. A vaudeville skit called "No Trespassing" Some of the talk is tiresome but they carry a beautiful production representing an apple orchid. They dress well and both the man and woman are young and good looking. Besides the orchid scene they carry a special drop in (1) representing the exterior of a brown mansion, this drop has a practical lattice window which is used by them in a "Romeo & Juliet" scene. An all right act for this spot on any bill. Time 20 min. Wormwood's Monkeys. F. S. 15 min. This is supposed to be a new act that wormood is submitting. However the monkeys do the same old tricks in a lackadaisical way and there is nothing new or original in the act except the boxing monkey who does not box at all but stalls like some of our professional pugilists. The act went fairly well at both performances. INTERMISSION. LORD ROBERT. F. S. close in 1. 6 min. This little fellow went very well at both performances with his singing and dancing specialty. Have him selling tickets at the box office window before each performance, and at the Wednesday and Saturday matinees will hold reception on the stage to the children in the audiences. He is something to advertise and should be an attraction for the women and children at the matinees. Time 18 min. HOMER MILES & CO. Special in 3. A comedy sketch entitled "On a Side Street" Miles is a reputed favorite here having played two seasons at the house in the summer stock company. Think he would do better for us if he had a new vehicle as the clientele of this theatre are not strong for repeats. This is the same sketch he played here last year. Reception from the audience on Miles' entrance at both performances and three curtain calls. Time 17 min. ARMSTRONG & CLARK. C. D. F. close in 1. 8 min. A comedy skit entitled "Finding a Partner" which serves to introduce their own musical compositions and some lively comedy. Armstrong is a great rag-time player on the piano and Clark is a great coon shouter. The applause hit of the bill. Time 25 min. Owing to the fact that there are no acts in 1. on the bill these boys were compelled to open in 1. After wait of 3. min. Clark comes on and stalls for 3 min. more while Miles' act is being struck and their act set up. This makes the act too long and slows it up more or less. SELCOMS' "VENUS." 13 min. F. S. (special) This act is too well known for a detailed criticism. It is a worthy and beautiful artistic effort. One woman and three men. PHOTOPLANE. Views depicting Jungle Life. Very good.
