TRENT THEATRE CRITICISM, WEEK OF DECEMBER 4, 1911 By J. F. Clancy AFTERNOON SHOW JACOBS COMEDY CIRCUS Full stage. This is an awfully clever collection of trained dogs. We lose the value of the act by being compelled to open the show with it. In this position it only goes fair, notwithstanding that the work of the dogs is wonderful. I think in a better spot the act would do much better. COURTNEY SISTERS Singing act in "one." These girls are, positively, the hit of the show. If our bill could be so arranged we would have put them down next to closing after witness their work at the opening show. WILL ROGERS Full stage. Rogers is working alone this time doing a little rope throwing which he intersperses with a fund of bright humor. Goes very well. LUCILLE LA VERNE & CO Comedy playlet, entitled "How Jasper Fixed It." Full stage. We made Miss La Verne our headline feature and as such she failed to live up to expectations. The act fell a little flat, probably because the story is a little too long and drawn out and lacks comedy. Miss La Verne's individual work is great. Her impersonation of a colored boy is as fine a bit of character acting I have ever seen. INTERMISSION TOONA INDIAN COMPANY Five or six Indians who "sing" songs. Full stage. This is is supposed to appeal on the strength of its novelty. It is said that the Indian has little or no ear for music. After seeing this act I heartily agree with the statement. JONES & DEELEY A very good comedy with music, entitled "Hotel St. Reckless." Goes very big. FLYING WARDS Aerial act, full stage. This is a very clever act, bordering on the sensational. Makes a fine closing number for a fairly entertaining bill.
