Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of December 4, 1911. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. PICTURES "The Bachelor's Club." A very funny comedy that went very well and got the show started with laughs. COTTER & BOULDEN The same good little act as usual. Better dressed than heretofore. Material not so great, but the woman's cleverness makes it go very well. 14 Min. in One. THE STANLEYS A novel act, with laughs all through. No human being appears, even at the finish, so the applause at the finish was only moderate, but it may be called a big hit, nevertheless. 10 Min. F. S. DU CALION Monologuistic Equilibrist. This fellow balances upon a ladder in a different way from anyone else in that line I have ever seen. He made ME nervous, so good were his feats, and his comedy comments and the novelties in the line of dressing kept the audience in shrieks. 17 Min. in One. AIDA OVERTON WALKER & CO. For some reason this act did not go with very much applause until Miss Walker's impersonation of George Walker, which made the act finish well. This may be due to the fact that she did more "walking" and simple dancing than she can do and has done every other time I have seen her, or it may be due to race prejudice. The fact remains, however, that she is quite a big drawing card, attracting white people as well as people of her own race. 24 Min. F. S. ASHLEY & LEE With an entirely new act and a new partner for ASHLEY. They always go well here but this week they are making the biggest hit they have ever made. A laugh from start to finish. 20 Min. in One, and the audience wanted more. MASON-KEELER & CO. In "In and Out." One big laugh. Kept the audience interested because of its novelty and will make talk and draw business. 30 Min. F. S. and alternating back and forth from F. S. to One, finishing with a very short close in One. JARVIS & HARRISON Talking and singing act on the order of Mack & Walker, but not nearly as good. Hardly strong enough to hold this spot in a show as good as this, but put here instead of Ashley & Lee in order to separate the singing and dancing from the Aida Overton Walker act. 16 Min. in One. THREE ESCARDOS Bounding table acrobatics. Somewhat disappointing. Only 7 Min. F. S. and but about 3 good tricks in those 7. MOTION PICTURES "Lost in the Jungle," a very fine dramatic picture.
