TRENT THEATRE CRITICISM, WEEK OF DECEMBER 11, 1911 By J. F. Clancy AFTERNOON SHOW ROBERT DE MONT TRIO Acrobatic act, full stage. This is not only a good act to open the show, starting it in mighty good shape, but I think could hold a position of closing and give satisfaction. LUCY TONGE Contralto singer. Works in "one." Miss Tonge has a very showy voice and goes well but I think that she uses rather poor taste in the selection of her songs, two of her three numbers being very old, having been selected evidently for the purpose of showing off her voice. "THE THREE RUBES" This well-known act went as well as usual today. Beginning with tonight's show we will move them down one, closing the first half. PETE LAWRENCE & CO One-act comedy sketch, called "The Fresh Freshman." Full stage. Can close in one. This has the making of a very good act. Mr. Lawrence himself is very clever but I do not care much for the two people he has supporting him. We thought the act would do better a little further up on the bill so change places with "The Three Rubes." INTERMISSION THE LANGDONS A comedy entitled "A Night on the Boulevard." Full stage, own setting, which is out of the ordinary. I think this act gives more satisfaction than any other feature of the program. Went unusually big at the finish. ED MORTON Singing comedian, in "one." Morton held this spot very nicely. He has certainly improved since his last appearance here two years ago. VALLECITA'S LEOPARDS Here is a great act and I think it gave universal satisfaction this afternoon.
