C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. DEC. 11, 1911. THE CHAMEROYS. 8 min. in one. Young man and young woman, the former working eccentric, the latter in athletic costume. Do some of the regulation ground tumbling stunts that got a scattered hand. Makes a fair opener. The close was good. THE R.A.G. TRIO. 14 min. in one. Three very good singers who use the piano with banjo accompaniment to some of the songs. Most of their ragtime selections were new, and all of them very good. Each got a big hand. J.C. NUGENT & CO. "The Rounder." 21 min. F.S. This is a characteristic Nugent sketch on the lines of the former one, "The Squarer," if anything, it held the attention of the audience vene better and contains many bright lines. Closed very well. DUFFY & LORENZ. 17 min. in one. Carry their own drop which is not very prepossessing. This is a very neat little singing and patter act, Miss Lorenz having made a good impression here before in "The Leading Lady." Held the audience very well and made a good close with two curtain calls. All right in this spot. THE BELL FAMILY. 30 min. F.S. This is one of the most brilliant and pretentious musical acts we have ever played. It is superbly costumed and put on in true showmanlike manner. Made a hit right from the start. The selections were mainly from the operas interspersed with folk songs and dances which were full of barbaric fire. Big applause after each number and the close was so strong that they were compelled to give three encores. The third encore, with the man and woman dancing, brought on a perfect storm of applause. This act is sure to be talked about through the length and breadth of the city. FRED DUPREZ. 21 min. in one. This is a very hard place following such a strong act as the Bell Family, but Duprez did it all right in great shape. Has a very amusing line of material and he gets it over in a way that certainly gets the crowd going. The burlesque drama at the close with the help of the orchestra was very funny and brought the act up to a strong close. IRENE FRANKLIN. 30 min. It goes without saying that Miss Franklin was her usual hit as she is as great a favorite here as she is everywhere else on the circuit. Sang two songs and three old favorites. Received immense applause and made her usual big finish. BIXLEY & LERNER. 15 min. in one. These people had a very hard spot in a big and late show, but they got away with it very well with the same line of humor as they have presented here before. Made a good finish. PICCHIANI TROUPE. 9 min. F.S. This is a very strong acrobatic combination and makes a big closing feature for any show. The seven men are all finished acrobats and work in street costume, evening dress, policeman's uniform and eccentric comedy. The comedy is of the slapstick order, gets a few scattered laughs, but the work on the tossing boards is extraordinary and gets the big hand. Closed strong. KINETOGRAPH. We shall use the Bender, Coombs & Morgan film for the balance of the week. GENERAL REMARKS. This is a great bill and no mistake. Miss Franklin and the Bell Family could carry any show to success even without such a strong surrounding program. Bixley & Lerner will change places with Fred Duprez tonight. CUTS DUFFY & LORENZ. "Skirts up," etc. Word "d---." Expression "I saw you with your clothes on."
