197 -----B.F.KETIH'S UNION SQUARE THEATRE------ CRITICISM OF SHOW FOR WEEK OF JAN.27, EARL FLYNN & NETTIE McLAUGHLIN A young man and woman in a fast dancing set with several changes of costume. Pity to bury them in this position, could go down further and make good. Ten minutes in one. BEN LINN Recent heavy weight feature of the "Pianophiends" Works straight singing four songs. His attempt at dancing brings a few laughs. Can go further down and make good. Nine minutes in one. HELEN TRIX Sings four songs, makes several changes of costumes, and offers a piano selection with an impersonation of a man. She does not cause any great riot but manages to get by in fairly good shape. Fifteen minutes in two. SMITH & CAMPBELL Campbell of the old firm of Smith and Campbell with a new partner Have some very bright material that catches on well with a good closing song. Believe the act is just as good as of old. Fifteen [?LLY] AND COMPANY [illegible] In "The Battle Cry of Freedom", The same big hit as before. Twenty-seven minutes. EDDIE LEONARD With Mabel Russell. The hit of the show at every performance. Twenty-two minutes. WATER CARNIVAL This act was booked to show. It opened in terrible shape on Monday afternoon. At the evening performance, it improved greatly and has shown a marked improvement at every performance. On Thursday afternoon he gave us the girls coming out of the water which created some talk. The set consists of high diving, fancy and trick swimming, high diving dogs and Indian log rollers. The company consists of 10 girls, four men, including two Chippawa Indians. If the act were taken proper care of, it would be one of the greatest attractions we ever had in vaudeville.
