V R. S. Robbins WASHINGTON SHOW November 3, 1913. SPRAGUE & MC NEECE: 9 min. F.S. Man and woman. Beautifully costumed and well staged roller skating act. Graceful dancing on skates and difficult skating features. This is a very good opening act and appreciation was heartily shown by the audience. FARBER GIRLS: 16 min. in one. Two charming girls fetchingly dressed, who sing, dance and make merry to the great amusement of the audience. One a very good singer, the other a corking good comedienne. They got many laughs and much applause, and made a hit. THREE HICKEY BROS. 8 min. in one. Acrobatic dancing with comedy. All good dancers and tumblers. The comedian with original grotesque makeup, clever with his comedy. This act was very well received. THE GIRL FROM MILWAUKEE: 10 min. in one. Excellent vocalist. Beautiful woman handsomely dressed who got three splendid selections over in Prima Donna style. This act was a hit and a big one. Speech at finish. FREDRIKA SLEMORS & CO. 19 min. F.S. Fairly good sketch, fairly done and fairly received. Act depends upon slang for its laughs, some of which didn't materialize. JACK NORWORTH: 33 min. F.S. Norworth was good for five minutes longer in his position than in #9, as tried Monday afternoon. Mr. Norworth's work and personality is evidently pleasing to Washington audiences for he got many laughs with his comedy, and much applause at the finish of his act. His songs new and old, pleased. The novelties in his act were a travel talk utilizing moving pictures and a telephone song utilizing a phonograph arrangement whereby his voice is resounded from different parts of the house. RAYMOND & CAVERLY: 22 min. in one. German co medians. Got advance laughs with comedy curtain. This curtain however, should be replaced with a new one. It was so bad, after the initial laughs, that I felt compelled to lower a Street curtain. Twisted english in german dialect and parodies composed their act. They wound up with a burlesque on Grand Opera; old, but new to Washington, which got them a good round of applause and much laughter. This act did not lose anything in following Norworth. GARDINER TRIO: 10 min. F. S. Two attractive girls and neat looking young man. Beautifully costumed and staged dancing turn. This act embracing all the raging society dances and is done in a highly artistic and refined manner. The act went well indeed, getting lots of applause. PATHE WEEKLY: 15 min. Fairly interesting run of pictures of near timely events. GENERAL COMMENT: Reported a great show. SUNDAY SHOW: NOV. 2ND - New act - Mary Cramer. Female baritone. Sang four songs with credit and received deserved applause.
