12 CRITICISM B.F.KEITH'S UNION SQUARE. WEEK of NOV. 17, 1913. BARROWS AND MILO Two men in a splendid posing and hand balancing act that opened the show with big applause. Could go further on the bill. Ten minutes, full stage. COOK & SYLVIA Man and woman in songs and dances with dialogue. A well known act that has deteriorated greatly. The man is a great dancer and that is about all, the woman is absolutely impossible. Eleven minutes. EDDIE GIRARD AND JESSIE GARDNER In a one-act comedy in two scenes called, "Kis-Muh". The act opens in one, exterior, with Eddie Girard as Officer Dooley of the New York Traffic Squad, who finds himself, by means of a dream, transported to a harem of a far eastern potentate. Several bright lines, a song and the old monkey imitation are introduced. The jury seem to like it anf there is an element of novelty to the playlet. Doubt if it would go over in the big two-a-day, although may be all right for the smaller out of town houses. Twenty-three minutes. KARRON, HEINS & LAMAR Three men, one white and two black-face, in a minstrel skit. The comedy is rather weak, with an occasional laugh here and there, and the voices just fairly good. They just about get by and may be all right for outside smaller houses. Twenty minutes in one. MONETA FIVE In a musical skit, called, "Harmony at Home", consisting of singing and instrumental work. Very neat and refined musical number, scoring the first big hand of the day. Twenty minutes, full stage. BARNEY GILMORE The well known Irish comedian. Mr. Gilmore looks rather classy, working in full dress, and gives an Irish song, a corking recitation that calls for spontaneous applause, a little monologue that get some laughs, exhibits some views of old Ireland, with appropriate dialogue, and finishes with an Irish dance. It is a very neat turn and one that breaks up the monotony of the general routine of variety acts. At $150.00 it would be a good buy. Sixteen minutes in one. "SERGEANT BAGBY". A dramatization of Irvin Cobb's story published in Saturday Evening Post, the stage version having been prepared by Bozeman Bulger and Mr. Cobb. The company contains six men and a woman. It tells a story of three Civil War veterans, two Confederates and one G.A.R., who meet in New Orleans by accident on the occasion of a Confederate Reunion. The three engage in a lively tilt that calls for many laughs, finally putting aside their animosities to help a young couple who are running away from the girl's groucht old stepfather to get married. The setting is quite unique and the cast fairly good. The them is weak and lacks the solid punch that a playlet of this calibre should have. Twenty minutes full stage. GERTHUDE VANDERBILT AND GEORGE MOORE In songs and dances. Did remarkably well and, I think went fully as strong as their previous visit. Sixteen minutes in one. CLARA BALLARENI. A splendid aerial act and one that received good applause for the various stunts. Could show to better advantage if placed in the centre of bill. Six minutes.
